i was freelancing and i met a guy starting a spanking new company who pays me $40 for every layout i make for his clients business cards/postcards

i start from gash with solitary the written info (phone #, company name, etc) and he keep the open artwork (.PSD file)

im latest to all of this, so im not sure if its legit or not

New or not, he's taking supremacy. My advise: Work inside your ability, price yourself fittingly, and find ethical clients.

It depends mostly on the confidence you have within your work. You name your price. Also, possibly get a friend to dispense him a call and acquire an idea of how much he is charging his customers.

It is form of fishy when you charge that little compared to your competition. Do you want to get the position, and get more money?
Why not notify him about "features and benefits"? Im doing a plumbing chore tomorrow because i told the guy that I would install the drain line so that he can drain down more than what other individuals should be draining down! Tell him what you can do that helps him and the justification for it. When you do this to him on a few points, you will win the job.
