I want to go to the site to keep under surveillance videos, but everytime I move about past the homepage, an poster takes over the eyeshade and i dont know a way of truism "no thanks" and making the ad move about away.Answers: can you see the address of the ad that popups up? I use a modified host profile, the hell with popup blockers when you can use something your browser looks at when it surfs.
goto this folder on your computer...
WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\
Then you will see a directory called "hosts"
Write down or copy the address that the join is from and add it to your host database...
example..
open hosts beside notepad. then articulate the ad site is http://www.bogusad.com/
Just put that within your host file and point it to your local computer. example...
127.0.0.1 bogusad.com
The net address might have a bunch of characters after the actual host term. do not copy all them, adjectives you care around is the main site.example...
it might look close to this...
http://www.bogusad.com/dshhohwobbo879399...
All you care roughly is the bogusad.com
So put 127.0.0.1 bogusad.com
Save the file. Make sure the record gets save back as "hosts" and not "hosts.txt"
Then turn back to that site and wala! no more popup!
WIth proper use of the hosts report, you dont need a popup blocker.

Torrent site, they always hold thos stupid porn ads. I see none of them because I own all thos add put in my hosts profile.
I just go to that asia site and I get no add or popups. If you wish goto http://rip-off-scams.coolbb.net/
and turn upside down the forum for "hosts" and you will see a link where on earth you can download the hosts file I used. I own over 1000 of those ad servers down so I surf without add to almost everything. Feel free to download that file and replace yours next to it. if you search G00GLE, you will see abundant people manufacture this file for this exact point. Its a part of window but is basically blank and for the user to modify.
All it does is point the browser hindmost to your localhost (which is you) so you dont see all the crappy add.

Answers: The above 2 assume you are talking about a website, which is pretty narrow minded.
The most effective advertising is the one that understands the target audience the best. The biggest budget campaign spent on TV or other mass media is a huge failure if the message is wrong. Its a very simple answer.
I agree Mathew. You want your site exposed, get out there and network. Goto forum sites and blogs, become a member and make a few posts, then after you are an active member talk about your site or even put you site in your signature. Never do this right off the bat for your first couple of posts as that would be considered spam.
Article writing is another great way. Places like Helium and associated content are great for this.

Also, what I just told you, Theres a few books out there like How to drive traffic to your website!
Those books are like 10 pages long that take those above two sentences and make them 10 pages long! LOL
