Should I use software to optimize my sites for the search engines? If so what software would you recommend?
Answers: SEO elite and IBP both are good but they help only if you know what to do - Softwares dont do anything according to your web site scenario, they speed up tasks like submissions and collecting relevant sites etc.
You can promote your web site online. There are two methods, paid and Free. Paid is quick and free one takes abit time but provides long time results. Paid
is adwords and few other networks, Free is SEO or Organic Search Engine Optimisation.
Adwords is best choice for startup business or businesses having very good finances.
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is the only way to get good traffic free ;) You need to optimise your web site.
You need to do two aspects of SEO
1 is On site Optimisation, which includes adding Titles, META, Keywoerds, then content related to your META. Also Alt tag for
images can optimise your images.
2nd is Off site optimisation, which includes getting good links from other web sites related to your content/topic.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
at G00GLE and Yahoo.
Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the

question, "Who's my end user - is he on dialup or

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.
Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.
Placement of Metatags:
A ranking or search order does take place with G00GLE
and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.
The second metatag is the "Description" which is
usually 41 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one's goods and services.
And the very last category - "Keywords" are also
somewhat limited to 15 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported
to G00GLE's spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.

There are many software programs reoprts to optimize web sites for search engines... some good, and some not so good. Many will address such things as content, duplicate content, links, page ranking, etc...
Much of the software being sold basically pertains to G00GLE search engine optimization since it's the most popular and biggest of the big three search engines. But, on the other hand, much of it is really based on myths that some online gurus started in order to sell or promote their latest e-books or software.

I have a project within which I am trying to promote the open university and find people to return to coaching.I had lots of accepted wisdom and my tutor has advise me to focus on an idea I hold using fish. I have to do 3 posters and one poster be the idea of have a fish in a small fish bowl next to the headline FEELIING TRAPPED? Some people quality trapped in job they hate and obligation a way to escape so I get the impression this fits in other. The posters all entail to link so keeping on the fish subject is what I am trying to do. I have a few other little planning like, showing an octapus near the heading WANTING MORE FLEXIBILITY? Or one fish looking at lots of other fish with the heading WANT TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS? Or a couple of fish looking at respectively other with bubbles blowing out of the mouths next to the heading WANT TO LEARN NEW LANGUAGES?
