I'm in the order of to distribute out my first press release?
I've produced a book for a certain niche (auto racing) and I'm selling it through my network site as an ebook. The press release I've made is pretty good and I'm confident within it - but I have a few question:1.) When I mail a press release, should I merely include the press release within the envelope and nothing else?
2.) When mail a release, should I put the editor on the envelope or is there someone else I should direct it to?
Thanks!
Answers: I regularly transport out press releases, and unless I'm including it as part of a larger medium kit beside physical items that can't be sent electronically, I always email them. Every editor I work next to prefers getting them sent as email, usually as a .doc or .pdf attachment.
Even when I first started out in PR, anyone that didn't prefer email required a fax instead of snail mail.
That said, if you're target a specific reporter, send it to them. Otherwise, dispatch it to the editor.
