Copyright/trademark my item #?

If my company manufactures items and I want to confer them model #s, do I have to exclusive rights (copyr/tradem?) those numbers. I ask because what if I give an item a christen (model#), advertise it, and there's another similar or non-similar item on the open market with duplicate number? If so, can some1 give me a brief belief on the process w/ a rough cost? thanks

Answers: neither protection applies.

copyrights simply don't apply to product name or simple facts, and trademarks that are so generic are of no protection at all.

you entail creative names, and you check your possibilities against prior trademarks that are registered.

trademark protection is not categorical.
Not necessary. Your model numbers are a agency to organize the a range of products you create.

Are generic brand products REQUIRED to hold smaller number attractive casing than that of their competitors?

Have you ever noticed that generic/less popular items within a grocery store, for example, have smaller quantity than noticable labeling? Why is that?

Answers: No!it is just that generics are usually sold as cheaper alternatives and cheaper casing is more cost affective.

The only requirement for generics, in particular drugs is that the active ingredients are like peas in a pod and in like strength as the original.
It's adjectives about money and the bottom splash.

Half the questions contained by here are how to do or buy something for free.

Those same people don't have need of fancy packaging.. adjectives they are shopping for is price. For that same generic seller, prob impossible to tell apart one who makes the exp one, keep prices low by reducing price someplace and the cheapest and easiest.. the package.
I hold seen honourable off-brand designs. I think one of the basic points is who is making them. The manufacturer might not hold the budget for a marketing/design staff so they get by cheaply next to one designer that is so-so. I won a local design competition award and my budget be $25 on the project. My competitors were local design agencies beside big "brand" clients and huge budgets and a design team. I won because the design be good. Like someone else said though. People buy the off-brand because they are cheaper, not because they look devout. But...can you imagine how better sale would be if they DID?
