Answers: SEO (search engine optimization) is a especially complex subject, with dozens of factor and practices required. There are dozens of quality pattern sites that outline "best SEO practices," and hundreds of other sites that are helpful but smaller number clear or concise. There are also some good books and some fruitless books about SEO, but near rapid change in the turn out engines' algorithms and policies, most books are out-of-date before they're printed.

You should any spend a lot of time studying SEO and website design issues, OR hire a consultant, beforehand trying to create an "optimal" site.

BUT it's important to certify that there are no "strict requirements," and most hunt engines (certainly G00GLE, Yahoo, MSN, Ask) will index your site even if it has HTML coding errors, broken metaphors, etc. -- the search engines are terrifically tolerant of "errors."

Over the past 12+ years, I've created pattern pages surrounded by 10 minutes, with no thought roughly SEO, sometimes with unmatched HTML tag and spelling errors and no meta tags, and still have the pages indexed and displayed within favorable positions for relevant keywords. I've also had sites and page where I strategized and optimized the site, expending lots of time and shot, and "doing everything right," without ever appearing within the top 100 results for relevant search expressions.

Search engines are much less tolerant of "trickery" such as keyword spamming, cloaking, and dozens of other sleazy campaign which, when detected, can quickly inflict your site to disappear from search results. There are some practices that are absolutely "black hat" or prohibited and evil; there are also some practices which some folks preserve as "gray hat" but which are still prohibited and evil (often the difference is merely the likelihood of getting caught).

In certainty, the number one rule for SEO, in my judgment, is to design your web site and page to be useful to human beings. The check out engines aren't perfect, but over time they cut to tricks but gradually become better and better at recognize pages that are in truth useful for human beings, and excluding page that are not actually adjectives for human beings.

Do some homework. There is no "quick and dirty" strategy, and near are no guarantees that are worth anything.

Good luck.
I agree with Mark. I would include do not submit your website to the search engines. It will steal longer to get indexed. You can request to trade links next to a site already indexed or placed an ad on craigslist to procure indexed quickly.
