What is the difference between fad exposure and style merchandising?
These are two seperate majors at a college im looking at but i cant seem to find what the difference exactly is..can someone backing?Answers: Go with promotion if you like working next to media. Magazines, the Fourth Estate, commercials, etc... Just putting the idea into customers' minds and creating the call for for the product.
Go with merchandising if you want to work near the actual product itself. How you're going to get the customer to buy it once that customer is at the store. How it should be displayed within stores, how many unit will it sell, order enough to cover the hottest unsullied trends (but not so much that you lose money marking it down at the cease of the season)
For more particulars, ask your college for the course information bank for both majors. That might help shed some standard lamp in exactly what skills they are requiring you to swot. Both are fun and require lots of creativity. You'll need to be capable of think outside of that box! Good luck surrounded by whichever you choose.
Advertising: when you use billboards or Commercials to make your product agreed.
Merchandising: you can advertise through cloths or ballyhoo products with a logo of from a movie.

Many places let you list your website free.
I know Yahoo wnats $300 to be listed but local.yahoo will let you list your site for free.
Sometimes people search with city added to keyword - this shows your listing way up the list in yahoo (Due to the local yahoo flag)

If its more specialized, like medium buying, you will be expected to be able to read a ratings report (radio & TV) and a circulation report (publications). You might also hold to work with a computer program that determines arrive at and frequency of an ad fight. Which I don't have the space to explain.
If you are surrounded by accounting: payroll, balance sheets, excise skills might come into play.
Or maybe you'll be working surrounded by the snack shop and just own to make cash ;<)
It's going to depend on the specific job. Most potential you'll just be taking a broad skills test to be sure you can integer out how to fill surrounded by a time sheet. Good luck,
