What is the effect of advertising to gift giving?
Answers: In my personal opinion, some advertising has denigrated the gift giving process because of the importance it has put on the dollar value of the item.
There are others that have put a lot of thought into the product and made it very appealing aesthetically and brought it back to the very personal level ( meaning that it isn't the amount of money you spend it is the actual thought you put into the gift )
Christmas advertising has gone way over board. Starting the campaign in September for December 25 has breached all boundaries and taken away the pleasure experience with the now excessively long period which we are subjected to pitches that promote materialism. As far as Boxing day sales go, there is no such thing anymore... as you may have noticed this year that those sales started the beginning of November !!
My most serious opinion and thought on this matter is...
With all the advertising and hype, that it has taught our children to be greedy, materialistic, and sometimes very ungrateful people. They don't give a hoot about who gave them a hug and a hand made sweater for example , but more about how much they spent or didn't spend on the gift for them.

If this is the skin, you can be sued by the other manufacturer. Also, customers who come within looking for that product will be upset that you do not offer it. Lastly, word of mouth could overflow out and your reputation is screwed.
