Answers: Actually branding does not increase the demand but it is a form of identification for your product. The demand factor is the quality of your product but how would they know if it is a specific product and thats where branding comes in. Actually branding is a Chanel for the product to meet the demand and the quality is the catalyst of the demand.
Well if you saw the same product one packed in a plain stiff brown paper bag with very little in the way of branding and writing whilst the other was contained in bright a maliable packaging which had it's brand name in bold clear writing along with a catchy phrase.

A label usually expresses reputation for good quality, and depending on the type of product, prestige as well. It also symbolises not only the producer, but also it's standards, values (customer service, corporate social responsibility and ethics), and unique practices involved in producing the good as well. If the company has a reputation of good will and humanitarian efforts, then most likely demand for the product bearing it's label will increase.

I think that if a product is labelled, it would be easier to effectively market, because it can be easily endorsed by celebrities, atheletes, and famous people (and sometimes characters in fiction) who use products bearing the label.

If a product bearing a label is selling well and demand is high, then the popularity of that product may carry over to others bearing the same label. Some products are complementary goods where the quality of one good can be best enjoyed using another product of the same brand with it, eg, the relationship between the Sony Playstation 3 and the Sony Bravia Television. So the increase of one products demand can also lead to the increase of another.

So really, a product that bears a label of a popular brand has a good competitive advantage over others.
