For general advertisement, I much prefer text links to click on. They are quicker to nouns and if I am playing my own music or running other software, they don't interfere. I will steer clear of all flash and audio advertisement because they tend to disrupt what I am currently doing.
I do prefer picture advertisements when considering buying a product, as long as they don't rob too long to load (you know the type, the huge pictures that lug an hour to appear on screen).
I would suggest definately staying away from audio as the audio ad's are just plain annoying. Flash ad's, while cool looking, aren't compatible near all systems and can be annoying as resourcefully.
Sometimes keeping things simple and easy to use, smooth to see, and easy to become conscious...is the best way to step. Fancy is not always better.
