I have a Kelty 5400. I love it, it is small satisfactory that it it works for short trips, but I can really pack it out for a week or two, I pack light. My husband can use it as okay, because it is so adjustable. He thinks the color is a bit girly, but I close to it. It is a royal blue and Yellow.
I guess it all depends on what description of trips you take as to what you call for. I like the reality that mine has side compartments spotless for fuel and/ water bottles, removable top to double as a time pack, small zip out compartment correct to put in food or other chunky stuff... heavy go low, and a separator inside that you can remove between the top and bottom halves. I personally close to an internal frame, and in my experience lots.... internal or external is more of a nouns thing not a season issue. Internal tend to be taller where on earth the weight distribution is wider on an external. My biggest issues are size and weightiness, oh and PRICE, but I guess that is broad. There are a lot of chick pack out there too, I would suggest a big pouch of rice ( 50 lbs ) and a few hours to kill trying on pack. Have fun.
