What is a self mailer?

When something says "The brochure is a self mailer, 81/2 x 14" what does that look similar to?

Answers:
It's a brochure that is designed to be folded so the outside panel have the mail indicia, return address and promotional copy on what would be considered the 'front' of the piece.

81/2 x 14 is too big to pass through conventional postal standards, so your dimensions must mean to be exact the final size of the piece when unfolded.

Try to design the mailer so that when folded, it conforms to USPS 'regular' size mail.

Other Answers:
It is the measurements of the brochure!

It can be mailed short an envelope. The address is either on one side of it, or you can write it on one side, and stick it contained by the mail. Still wishes a stamp, though! Yes, that's right. The printed piece has the mail details right on it, so that it requires no envelope.

Pre-teen dance!?

How would I start weekley dances for pre-teens? I want to provide them next to a safe place to hang down out and make a profit. In Timmins here is a dance held weekley and only just about every kid surrounded by town goes. They charge $6 a chief and probably make in the region of $3000 every friday doing this. I want to do this! Anyone have any suggestions or experience within this area to minister to point me in the right direction?

Answers:
You enjoy to ask yourself first, what will you do different to attract 500 people? How long have Timmins been doing the dance? It may be very difficult to break the need.

Do you have a better venue? (Teens, come waltz at the Arcadia Ballroom)

Do you have better music/talent? (We enjoy JoeD mixmaster and a live appearance by....)

If you have a truly better alternative, later there are several ways to go and get the word out, from church bulletins to flyers stapled to telephone poles.

Good luck.

Other Answers:
If you are not opposed, I would try conversation to local churches and seeing if their youth groups would be interested in outings at a risk-free location. I'm sure you'd find something there. Then ask to pile it on in conservatory and what not... perhaps once a month you could supply a small cut to the school itself... or allow team to rent the place out so they can earn money for their organization, close to a field trip to D.C. or something and you would keep hold of like 70% or something approaching that.

I am looking to bring national/regional advertisers for a small magazine. What is the best method to undertake this?

The publication is in Manhattan and Miami. Which change the game a bit in comparison to sizeable national publications and dealing with Agencies. However I know that these considerable companies like Coke, Pepsi, etc...sponsor local publications similar to mine all the time. We produce 10 different publications for these two cities, respectively a very localized to specific neighborhoods.

Answers:
If I be you I would list your subscription rate and construct an offer to local retailers. Everyone requirements to be seen and hear. Try to undercut or at least be competitive next to other publications similar in size. Also, look at your demographics and craft determinations on what businesses to approach based on your clients wants.

Other Answers:
I would play the card that says you can make a specific ethnic audience. In the case of NYC and Miami, the adjectives denominator might be Hispanic. Is it a bi-lingual book or English?

Once you have your target nailed down, do a release on prnewswire.com announcing the debut. Many online and hardcopy publications pick up the prnw releases as a business of routine.

Good luck.

Answers:
I've also been looking for a track to make extra money at home and hold scoured the net for lawful ventures but I don't guess stuffing envelopes is one. Think about it -- if a business requests envelopes stuffed they can (1) load a domestic device to do it (2) hire part-time or use their own staff or (3) bring the kids, nieces or nephews to do it (probably for a lot smaller quantity then you or me)!

You need to amount out a way to draw from them interested without giving up the essence of the concept. The corporate websites of many companies may front you to the marketing people. If you can rivet someone by email or phone, you have a better kismet of igniting interest and protecting your proprietary concept. If you hold someting really hot, seek copyright protection first previously you approach anybody.

Good luck!
