What is a Carte de Visite?
In 1857 in Paris, A. A. Disderi, court photographer to Emperor Napoleon III, introduced a bright form of portrait photographs called cartes de visite, small descriptions (approximately 3 by 2 inches), the size of calling cards, for which they were name. I'd agree best quality work possible as that reflect your capability. May be worth investing within two (or more) cards, one for professional work, one for domestic. Wouldnt bother with posters/flyers myself, unless you enjoy a sure fire outlet for them (art shop / photographers studio etc)

MD of marketing company. posters with totally good photographs printed on it. if u run for business cards, even they should have a nice pic. they should show how efficient u r. if i see a photograph and imagine myself as the subject surrounded by it, i wud definitely travel for that photographer.
That depends on the type of photography you are doing. If you are doing weddings, promotion in the pallid pages, near a photo will grab the most call. Business cards rarely head to a sales ring up, unless they are handed out by pleased clients. Flyers that can be placed at bridal shops would be very accurate. If you are doing other photography, such as commercial work, direct calls on prospective clients, near samples you can depart with them would be great.
