You need a marketable skill or product.
If you hold a skill someone wants to settle up you for, you can make a living. I write for a living. As to becoming financially independent, that take financial planning because no matter what you earn, if you aren't positive and investing a fair amount of it, you will NEVER be truly independent and never well-off.
As to a product, you have to numeral out how to market and deal in it. EBay does work for many. The alternative is to hold a good network business. I have a great internet business but a moment ago like any other business you own to let relations know you are there.
