I volunteer for the Leukemia and Lymphomia Society and we train people to run marathons contained by turn for them raising $2200 for the Society. I mostly work near working professionals, but some of these ideas can translate over to teens.
1. Sell candy - not sure where on earth you are located, but in California we market See's Candy and keep 50% of the profits.
2. Create a $1 donation serious newspaper - basically impossible to tell apart thing that you would buy at a grocery store or coffee shop and the proceeds nurture the hungry. Once a person buys it they sign their pet name at the bottom and you hang it surrounded by a public area. This one is appropriate for teenagers because a lot of their friends can single afford a few dollars.
3. Find a restaurant (like a Mexican rest.) and host a dinner party. Have the restaurant set up a buffet and charge $15 a creature - the restaurant may charge $7.00 a person.
4. Have them be in motion to local shops and get donations for a raffle. Sell ticket and you hang on to the money. This is a good one to raffle rotten at the dinner party.
5. If it's adults host a wine taste party at local wine stick.

We did rock-a-thons next to rocking chairs and a lock-in all at once and those gave flat out donations for the darkness.
