They aren't cheap, but students graduate within 2 years with great books and are fully trained for positions as copywriters. (Most of the "best" agencies within the country recruit from these school exclusively.)

This is recurrently the hardest to do because most agencies don't typically train employees. This is also the longest way to actually becoming a copywriter, unless you hold exceptional skills.
Advertising is extremely competitive. Not knowing what area of the country, or world, you live contained by, you may be faced near a shortage of good agencies where on earth you can apply. That's why a lot of creatives move from city to city. Still, it's a great work to have. But, it's not for everyone and not everyone can do it.
Remember: the one entry that will get you a profession as a copywriter is a great book. Whether you choose to put one together on your own or at a school is up to you, but it's a must.

Looking at your qualifications, I'd read out you stood a very appropriate chance of getting work surrounded by this area - beside one caveat - are you creative?
I started copywriting after I got my level - as a recruitment copywriter. I later got a errand with a 'mainstream' agency, afterwards after that went freelance. It's a markedly competitive industry and there are plenty of individuals who want to work in this smudge - however, there are usually more pictographic designers than writers, which will work in your fancy.
I suggest one (or both) of two approaches:
1) Get yourself a really good looking CV, highlighting your written skills, and transport it to all the agencies (small and large) essential where you live - a rushed look in Yellow page will give you adequate to start.
or
2) Get yourself registered with a conscription agency which deals within creative placements - either on a transient or permanent spring. (There's a link to an agency that I've worked for within the past, below.)
You'll also call for some sort of portfolio - examples of your work of which you're proud - to show potential clients/employers. If you haven't got anything, try re-writing some advert and/or brochure pages as an exercise - simply to demonstrate to anyone who's interested, that you're dexterous of stringing two words together coherently.
Finally, don't be put off my rejection for the first few times. It's one of the hardest areas to seize work because, while clients realise they can't design the ads themselves, everyone think they can write (!) - so keep at it, work frozen and don't be afraid to be pushy! Best of luck!
