What does a secretary/receptionist at a medical department do?
i got a career interview for a secretary/receptionist at a medical office.what r the duties does one achieve?how much salary can on expect?how hectic or complex the job is?can anyone convey me?thx.Answers: I worked in a dental organization as a receptionist and dental assistant. Some of the duties I had surrounded by the office be:
Checking patients in and out. Getting their information (health insurance, address etc.) adjectives up to date. Making sure to bill them for their services that day. This included medical codes for insurance companies. My department had a sheet next to a list of services and their codes right beside of them.
Answering the phone. Scheduling appointments and rescheduling if a long-suffering missed their appointment. Making phone calls to obtain patients in for check-ups.
Insurance claims. If a claim be rejected, I had to research why and if the code be sent in wrong. Making sure adjectives the claims were sent surrounded by properly so that we got remunerated was also an impressive job. Knowing what insurance companies would wages for and what they would not. Calling insurance companies was a day after day thing.
Files. Getting files out for the subsequent days patients and putting files away from that day's patients.
And being an assistant to the doctors, I also have duties in the fund with cleaning up and sanitize. Getting paitents ready for the doctor.
It be very hectic at times but I did close to the job. I quit because the doctors be married to each other and commencing to go through what turned out to be a ruthless divorce. It made the work place very upsetting at times, and I didn't entail the drama. But when I walked into the chore, I had no previous training before(other than department skills from high school). It took me rather while to catch onto the assisting subdivision, but I learned like mad and had some fun at times.

I think the key is to find a business that has a proven process that others have been successful using. That way you can duplicate it for your own home business.
