Am I better sour as an member of staff near a W-2 or an independant contractor beside a 1099?

I am starting a new work on Monday. It is a 40 hr/wk, M-F position in the entertainment production industry. I will be reporting to a supervisor at an department. This position will last partly a year.

I am confused because the contract lists me as an Independant Contractor. But shouldn't this position be underneath Employee status? I'm not setting my own hours or working from home. How do I gracefully discuss this with my adjectives employer?

Answers: I am currently an independent contractor and what that means is that you will not be getting taxes taken out of your income. If it is a employment where you travel you should save track of your mileage, and reciepts for everything work related. When tax time comes around you will use adjectives your records to use as deduction on your income to hopefully keep you from have to pay as much rates.

I own a pessimistic attitude around my mission. How can I overcome it?

I work in customer service at a nickname center. Every week, I'm given a quality ranking based on how okay I helped the customer. Most of my competence scores own been 80-100 percent.

I don't mind going over bill issues adjectives day. My biggest complaint is that I'm required to flog (cell phone) accessories. If my auxiliary sales are low for three months, I catch one month to fix it or I'll be fired.

Most customers call contained by to complain about their bill or service. They want to set free money--not buy a bluetooth. Also, if a customer buys an accessory from me over the phone, I own to charge shipping. But they can just be in motion to a sales department and get frills for the same price, and not settle shipping.

I keep reminding that I'm making more money than I thought I would at the age of 20 ($11.20/hour plus commissions is above average for giant school former students around here).

I know I have a fruitless attitude, but how can I change it? And if you be in my situation, would you try to trademark it work?

Answers: Well, first of all I own to congratulate you on actually 'not minding' going over bills near people! I reason you have a terrifically difficult position & if I had to do your chore I would probably shoot myself in the principal before the afternoon was over. I know that within most of the calls I fashion to customer service people, I closing stages up apologizing for my bad attitude until that time the call is over - it's the lowest possible I can do! You must be an exceptionally patient party. Kudos to you!

I would speak to your supervisor & present them the same issues you presented here. I would also suggest you put this contained by writing, including the rationale you stated about how we (customers) want to SAVE money when we send for you. There should be nothing preventing you from writing a letter to your supervisor, in expressions of company policy. It would be good to hold this on record since you may be surrounded by danger of getting fired. You do adjectives you can. If they want you to make sale, then maybe they should send you to salesperson training. I ponder it's completely unfair for them to expect you to do BOTH customer service AND sale.

For the record, I don't devise you have a fruitless attitude at all. If you are going through adjectives the trouble to be so worried about doing what's within essence an impossible task, afterwards I think your attitude is pretty good. It shows that you want to amend. I think the problem is near your company, where they are one unreasonable in what they are expecting of you. If they consult to you about firing you, explain to them you are trying as hard as you can, and probably they would benefit from training you to sell stuff to populace who aren't interested in buying it surrounded by the first place.

Meanwhile, always net sure you are pleasant to your supervisors in armour you need them for reference.

Good luck!

I personally believe that if you dont believe surrounded by the companies practices that you shouldnt stay there. Stick it out until you can find something you support more. You do own a very difficult livelihood and most people are not merciful enough to do it. Only you can prefer if the money is worth it.

Good luck :)
