Careers Employment Questions and Answers

What should I do?

I am in a medical assistant program right very soon and am scheduled to graduate surrounded by Dec. 08. I want to go directly to nursing arts school (out of state) in Jan 09. I am wondering if I should finish the med assisting program (I will graduate next to my associates degree and certification) or should I drop out at the stop of March (my school is compensated for until then, I would enjoy to borrow another $10,000-$15,000 to finish)? If I don't drop out and go to nursing academy for Jan 09, I will have to hope they can guarantee me housing and but for, I will have to linger another semester to go contained by Sept 09. On the other hand if I quit at the shutting of March and start working, I can earn money (not as a medical assistant but maybe something close) and I can put some money away to hold when I go away to nursing university. I am really really really torn up about this guys so any assist you can give will be much appreciated!
Thanks! ;-)

Answers: The quiz is; do you have satisfactory credits to take your records examination, but not attain the associate degree?

Having have my own practice for several years, and having worked on the civilizing preparation and then hiring and employment of several CMAs, I hold never seen much use surrounded by my practice, for a CMA with a level. If I had a CMA next to a degree show up for an interview, contained by our city, they might not get employed, as they would require a complex income, and I can hire plenty of CMAs without degree for less.

If you can catch your certification, and work as an MA... Or if you can receive someone to hire you based on your background as an MA (since there is no requirement for citations in any state surrounded by the US), then it might be within your best interest, to save the tuition and start on your nursing program.

Very little you revise in the MA program will be applicable to an RN program, as it won't own the depth, and will be ambulatory care base, while most RN programs focus the education on inpatient concern.

You need to look at`all your option. It would be a shame to waste the time and money you hold invested thus far, but once you finish the RN program, the MA certification would be pretty much worthless anyway.

As MAs surrounded by this area start at around $8.00 per hour and usually max out below $14 per hour, and RNs start at over $25 per hour the math is simple. Your investment within the long run is best spent on the RN program.
If you drop out now after spending adjectives that money for this program will any of the courses be transferred to the college you intend on enrolling surrounded by Jan.09? if not you might want to have a sneaking suspicion that about that. you could finish and obtain a job contained by that field and enroll surrounded by preq.classes towards your nursing degree at a community college. By sept.09 you'll be prepared for the nursing program and be financially stable also. Trust me as long as you're ambitious you'll create just don't rush it. Sept.09 is not that far away as long as you're populated with other academy wk.

Good luck!

I'm a server...can my employer make me scrub the bottoms and foot areas of the table and chairs and booths in my subsection. Don't you have to draw the smudge somewhere for manual labor. I solitary make 2.13 + tips.

Answers: Yes, he can. BUT, if that duty take up a high percentage of your time, he have to pay you differently.

In other words, while you are serving you are getting 2.13 per hour. If the other duties you achieve take a significant subdivision of your time at work, then you must be compensated at the legal miminum wage for your state for that time.

Check near your state's department of labor website for more information. Verify what percentage of time you must be serving to have adjectives your time paid lower than that wage.
