Check the want ad and see if you can get an conception of what the salary average is. Ask your friends for a ballpark integer of what they are making. Ask at the interview, what they are offering, and if necessary report them what you made at your last position.

What questions should an applicant ask during/after an interview?

Answers: You should sound interested, but not ask something you should already know. Don't ask about salary at this stage, it should be the job you are interested in not the money. You could ask about the interviewer, for example, "Why did you choose to work here? What was your career route", or show your long term commitment, such as "Where could I expect to be in x many years?"
"Does your health insurance cover psychiatric?", has always been good at keeping me on the public dole!
