Working at a restaurant?
I work at a privately owned fine dining restaurant. I started off as a dishwasher and after 4 months I be promoted to a pantry chef. Now I've been working within for about a year and I unquestionably hate my working conditions. I only want some insight about what working at a fine dining restaurant should be resembling. This place is complete unorganized chaos. I am the just pantry chef that works nights, both week days and weekends. We one and only have one other who works days when I'm at arts school. I'm 17 and work about 28 hours a week. I haven't be able to be in motion out on fridays or saturdays in roughly 7 or 8 months, and when I ask for a day bad my boss says no because in that is no one to cram in for me. He's really cheap and refuse to hire anyone else, in satchel you haven't figured it out I work 6 days a week, on the thursday I hold off every week one of the cooks fill in for me. Next thursday in that is a party and EVERY DISHWASHER WE HAVE is out of town and immediately I have to work past its sell-by date the books as a dishwasherAnswers: I own been surrounded by the business for over 25 years and have owned several restaurants, currently I enjoy two, and the situation you are in is not extraordinary in the industry. You are just 17 and seem to be to have your principal on your shoulders so if you like the business and want to stick next to it I suggest you start looking for a place that you would be happier with. Not just will a different enviornment be better for you in purchase knowledge and experience within the industry, but I am confident they will work with you as far as scheduling is concerned.
There are two things you want to consider before shifting positions though. First is your resume. You do not want to create work experiences that last smaller number than a year. If a future employer see a lot of few months here and few months in that they may think it is a problem next to you not being competent to hold a single position very long (you already enjoy been in attendance for a year so this one doesn't really apply, but make sure you check out the contemporary place good). Secondly, make sure you tender at least a two week spot to your current employer. Even if you hate it at hand you want to do things right! When you are looking for a new place variety sure you tell them that you will hold to give catch sight of before you start beside them. They will also appreciate your professionalism!
Before you accept a unsullied job receive sure you are going somewhere different! Talk to people that work near, ask around town, go contained by as a customer!

this business is not run very all right from what you state. that happens surrounded by many businesses not only restaurants and will continue within the future some those just should not be within business and eventually they aren't. you may want to look for other employment that appreciates your skills and gives you some personal time. various restaurants can and will work with you on a rota that is devout for both you and the business.
do not ever work off the clock or of accounts you are just hurting yourself within the long run. it is illegal for your employer to do it and basically not smart for you to accept it.
I would start to look elsewhere. Ask your boss for a sunshine off on the weekend. You deserve it. Why are you working six days?

I agree near the first post. I think the owner of this restaurant is using you (due to your age and I'm sure he is paying you smaller number than what he would normally reward someone with your experience) to do almost everything. Do you enjoy a good relation next to your employer? Is it possible to discuss how dissatisfied you are with your opening? You are YOUNG! I don't want this job to trap you and not enjoy a school and social existence. You can work elsewhere and probably be paid what you deserve and own the hours you want. Is in that specific training to be a sonographer if you hold no previous medical diploma or experience?
I have be to university to study Graphic Design, but i am seriously considering changing my work path completely and training to be a sonographer. I cannot do a radiography course first because i am within a wheelchair and have hip replacements which scheme i cannot be in an MRI environment.
