Careers Employment Questions and Answers

Where can i go for my work experience in London. i was thinking to go for police but I'm not sure Any ideas?

Answers: Well, what do you want to be?

My friend went with the police force, he could of just gone to an office!
By law, as a student on work experience, you can't patrol the streets, all you can do if you go with the police is watch officers do paperwork (my friend only got to do this once because of privacy) and make tea for other officers!
So you don't get any experience in anything.

I went to a primary school for my work experience and I loved it.
Some people do easy things and just to go libraries or a shop, or a office where their Dads friend works or whatever.

Make a list of careers that interest you. Then link places that you could do some hands-on experience. Then choose and write letters to different places in case you don't get accepted in the first one.

Good Luck!

I am 46 and finding it hard to find a new job is there any i can do to improve my chances?

Answers: Continuing education may give you a leg up in the job market. Most community colleges offer classes 1 or 2 nights a week in areas that are in high demand. Computer classes, classes that provide certification in vocations that are growing such as Pharmacy tech, and Medical transcription are often available.

If you have been in the same job for a long time and are just now entering the job market you may need to have your resume redone by a professional. Resume styles have changed and are what will get you the interview.

Also consider signing up with a temp agency. These short term positions often turn into permanent, full time when they see the quality of your work.

Don't become discouraged. The right job is out there for you!
what is it you have done in the past? check to see if there are any courses at your local college which could help you to update your skills. There are night classes available in some courses so you can still continue to work whilst being able to update your cv.

good luck with it all :)
Without knowing you and what your past credentials are, I would say to start taking classes at a local college (community, etc.) This way you can put on your resume that you are taking classes to earn a degree in a specific field.

Also, please keep in mind that based on some factors (i.e. the economy, unemployment rate) it may be very hard to get a job even at McDonalds.

Good Luck!!
The same thing happened to me at 46. No matter what laws they pass on age discrimination they wont work because discrimination is unprovable so the laws are unenforceable.

If you have any skills and/or some capital starting your own business may be the best bet. Like if you can type you could perhaps join an agancy as a temp, if you can cook you could buy a sandwich bar or cafe.
You need to talk to a coach. We can help you really investigate what it is that you might WANT to do and then help you chart a plan for achieving your goals.

Are you currently working? If so, what are you currently doing and why are you looking for a new job?

Send me an email and we'll set up a time to have a free one-hour (no obligation) coaching session.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Are Financial former students hired more from University than TAFE?

Why?

Answers: Well it all depends on the experience. These days employer look more at experience then diploma. If there is no experience involved it will be university due to a high qualification and better education. If experience be involved it would be either depending on the experience.
What is TAFE?
