Office/Admin charge?
Hi! I'm in Vancouver, BC and I'm a second yr university student thinking of majoring surrounded by psychology or sociology. I've been working for partly a year as a sales associate at Sears. Lately, I've be thinking of searching for a leisure position for admin/office/clerical work. I've done a few searches online, and most give the impression of being to want a minimum of 1-2 yrs experience in an bureau or related setting, which I don't have. Does anyone own any suggestions? Are there any places or companies that would hire students beside no experience for an office-related position? (I have done some office-work within high university, but I dont think that counts, right?)I've hear that places like Manpower, or Apple one are flawless, does anyone have more information roughly these companies, or any other companies?
Thanks!
Answers: When I was getting started, I spent seriously of time working for a variety of "temp" agencies. It's a great process to get started. They theory test you to see what your skill levels are, and roughly they send you out on assignments base on your skills, not on how much experience you have. If you're a upright worker and reliable, always show up when you're expected and do a virtuous job, consequently you'll quickly capture a reputation as a temp that can be trusted and you'll be in emergency. Plus each brief you go on could make available you the opportunity to learn a bright skill. I got more than one long-term employment through what started out as temp assignments. And you can register with more than one company, so that if one of them doesn't own an assignment for you when you want to work, another one might. Also, temp work comes in lots of shapes and sizes, and recurrently they're even willing to train you.
One drawback -- it might be difficult to do this while you're a student, since most of the assignments will want you to be available for a full hours of daylight, a full week, or more. But it's still worth a try!
Good luck!
