Thanks!Answers: I only just graduated later May and nursing is absolutely NOTHING close to nursing school. You revise a lot of undeveloped knowledge, gobbledygook and critical thinking and basic skills, but it cannot compare near what you learn on the work. At my school, clinical time be limited, and to me no book or classroom can steal the place of actually dealing beside the patients and carrying out what you have academic. I've been working for 6 months and I still revise something new every daylight. I'm nowhere near an expert nurse, but one of the best things going on for nursing is that no one ever know everyhing, and you get to constantly cram about lots of interesting things. I work within the NICU, so pretty much everything we do is different than nursing school, but any procedure is do-able as long as you hold the proper guidance the first time you do it. No one expects you to know what you are doing as a new grad! Make sure you ask in the order of orientation length and if the experienced nurses enjoy tutoring, that will make the biggest difference within your first year. Good luck!
LOL, I have never hear of ANY new graduate who feel prepared. If they say they do, later I wouldn't trust them because they are too cocky and new nurses who deliberate they know everything are a danger to their patients.
My friends from nursing institution and I have talk about how the first 6 months on the living was close to going to school everyday, and how we be stressed and nervous and not highly confident in anything we did. Especially those first few weeks stale orientation when you are entirely on your own and no longer working beside a preceptor.
It's totally normal to be aware of like you know drastically little. And in truth, you do know very little surrounded by the grand arrangement of things. But that's ok.
