First article, get an IT brief somewhere, ANYWHERE, even if it is unboxing computers and equipment. Let them know what your goals and dreams are. Second, PRACTICE everything. Spanning-tree, OSPF, EIGRP, Root Bridge see process, VTP, VLAN, Router on a stick, you name it. Do everything you can. Finally, know that you, and your significant other, are contained by for a LONG journey. It is worth it for those who really want it.
Cisco and network has really little to do with Web page, VERY little. In fact, if you are a virtuous network soul, nobody really see that you are doing your job. They solely know when you are not doing your job. Kinda resembling the power company. The only time that we even ruminate about not have power is when we do not have it.

I am on CCNA 4: WAN Technologies as we speak, so primarily i am doing the CCNA certification.
More certificate in return imply more in take-home pay, with experience as you would expect. So i suggest both.
One thing to memo, one will not be better or worse than the other, it's two different fields, for two different IT professionals. Do what you am bright and breezy with. Many nation have dropped out since it is easier said than done, you need to be into network to understand much of it.
You are comparing apples to oranges. But what you can do is attain your CCNA which is deceased easy. A month I don`t know two of studying. Get a job within help-desk somewhere and fool around with Web technology. You will get hold of a job much faster getting your CCNA. its happened to me. you are driven by satisfaction in getting results then. my motives where good, my strategy clean but not too many people are thrilled with the prospects of other peoples success..what i learnt from tis episode is its important to always work to feel good about yourself, there is no greater satisfaction i think than to be absolutely satisfied by the effort we put into something. when we suffer set backs, thats the time we get to refocus, just to start over again- with a clear mindset. hope that helped,whats your story, no one is telling until you do...
