Ok, some interesting things about lawyer pay -- it have significantly gone down along with the public's perception of the decriminalized profession. While other professionals, like doctors, hold salaries that hang on to up with inflation, lawyer's clear is not.

I have a decree degree from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College. The plea the average starting salary is so low is that some former students go into public service (i.e. public defense, prosecutor, etc...) However, within are a few graduates that find high-paying jobs right out of institution - mostly in corporate (i.e. contract law) or working for a big firm - both of which are importantly competitive - you have to be surrounded by the top of your class just to be considered. I presume the number of graduates (like me) that never if truth be told work in the area would be a startling statistic. Even so, law institution was a wonderful experience and I hold never regretted it.

Answers: As an HR Director, the only use I've found for an Objective is to weed out resumes by doomed to failure objective statements (misspellings, grammatical errors, not related to job). That said, I'd hold to agree to leave out the purpose... a well-worded statement won't help you get hold of the job, but a inadequately worded statement could definitely put you out of the running for the work. And the "meat" of your resume are your skills, experience, and education. I agree that I don't want a bulleted register of skills - give me explanations of how you own used those skills, or at least a statement that tell me you know how those skills can best be used. Give me your work history (including major responsibilities of the jobs) and your background. And please, please, please, pay attention to my flier. If I've asked for your salary history, be sure to tender it to me! If I've asked your salary requirements, it's not okay to put "open"... endow with me an idea of what selection you're looking for! If I'm only ready to pay up to $30K, I don't want to excess my time or yours if you're only going to consider job paying $40K or higher. (Personally, I expect that hiring managers should post income ranges, rather than asking for stipend requirements, but that's a personal preference... a moment ago be sure to provide exactly what the recruiter is looking for.)

Make sure your education and work history (skills used, projects worked, etc) are clear. Don't basically put your skills in a document, tell me how you used those skills.
The string "Objective" should start with the word "To." You're answering the interrogate "What is your objective?" and the answer would be, if you be speaking, "to do ____."
