Careers Employment Questions and Answers

Should a subordinate cover for a lazy/incompetent supervisor?

Answers: No, I don't think so. I have done it before, and felt really badly about it. The truth is it doesn't do you any favours. Best thing to do is keep your head down, work hard and if they can't do the job, then they really shouldn't be there - someone will notice soon enough. You never know, you might be in for a promotion ;-)

Good luck ;-)
Do your job...the very best you can.contribute to the good of the company and your department.don't gossip...don't criticize or complain..you will go far.

Job interview-How to relate them why you gone for closing living?

I left my ending job after my 6mth probation term when they told me I did not fulfill the requirements of my probation (it just so happen they were closing down another department at the same time and be making other people redundent)
I own an interview for another job subsequent week. I usually handle interviews okay but Im really worried about how to buy and sell with this issue when it comes up. Any planning greafully received.

Answers: Tell them what you have said here - that it be probabationary job and whilst you be there they be making staff redundant - all interviewers get the message concept of last contained by first ou!

BE up front as your reference will backbone you up
tell the truth
make available all the details you can
what requirements of your probation did you go amiss to fulfill.
tell them what you knowledgeable from that experience and how that experience is going to help you surrounded by the future.
everything that happen in your occupation has the potential to relief you as long as you look at it in that pallid. learn from your mistakes and your shortcomings and boost, you will be the better for it. good luck.
Just what you said here...
After human being with the company a moment, they closed an office making your position redundant...
Last hired, first fired, so to speak...
Oh i.e. easy. Just utter something that makes you look worthy and makes the prior company look "bad".

Having said that do NOT directly desperate mouth your old company but right to be heard that your departure had something to do near them and not you.

For example, you can say they be about to down size. You could also articulate that you had some fresh ideas more or less how the business works and they were a short time ago too ridriged in their thinking to implement said planning. You could also implement some cliches like you are a troop player and your prior company did not promote being a squad player. Or you could go contained by the other direction and say that you are a elevated achiever and your prior company did not recognize your complicated work. You could tell them that you are a fully developed adult and your prior work treated you approaching a child.

Just puff yourself up and "bad mouth" your prior company contained by a back hand manner. lol

If you occur to be in sales(?) after it is really easy because adjectives you do is tell them that you are a accurate sales individual and your prior company impeded your sale skills with too much red cassette etc.
just enlighten them you were made redundant along beside some other people. Get reference from a previous employer. Say they lost a contract (or whatever) and were powerless to meet the promises made 6 months ago.

Good luck and try and relax.
Contrary to what everyone else have said, don't say that you be made redundant when you weren't. Your old employer won't voice this when contacted, and what will be worse is that it will look like you've lied - that's more promising to put them off than the certainty that you didn't complete your probation.

What you need to do is to find a positive path of phrasing the fact that you didn't complete your probation. Remember that a probationary time of year is a trial for both you AND the employer, not just for them. I might be liable to say something similar to "at the end of my probationary spell, it was agreed that possibly this role might not be right for me". The interviewer will no doubt press you to explain further, but it's severely difficult to suggest what to say in need knowing the specifics of the situation.

Or, another thing you could do is, if at hand was a hard to please reason why you didn't complete it such as you failing to come to grips beside a particular software program, for example, there's nought wrong with anyone completely honest about this IF it's not relevant to the untried job that you're applying for.

Do you guess, though, that the *sole* reason they didn't maintain you on is because of them making other people redundant, or be there other factor? Because if it was the sole sense, whilst after six months employment you basically don't enjoy any rights with regard to redundancy, many employer would be happy to negotiate near you on the wording of your reference (i.e. you detail them what to say). It might be worth calling them now and asking.
