Truth is an absolute defense. You probably do NOT close to them. Now if you lie and say aloud things that are materially UNTRUE, you have a problem.

Of course if you could prove the oops, it would NOT be slander, but one is saying YOUR FEELINGS and TAKE the other is proclaiming FACT.
