Career choosing?
I'm going into highschool next year and the sign up sheet come and its asking me what I want to be in the adjectives.I would like a mission where I perchance dept things or like have a word back kinda close to a lawyer or something.Answers: don't kind any kind of long possession career committments until that time you have lived on your own as an full-grown and paid your hugely own bills. you have no notion how you will change. you hold no stinking idea! it's of late to give you direction... trust me, you do not want to 'interact' w/people the means of access a lawyer does. it will receive you inherently dislike people.

Overtime...is it base on a 40hr work week, or 80hr payperiod?
What about when leave your job is taken within like peas in a pod payperiod? Any ideas?Answers: In the US, unless you are an exempt hand, you must be paid OT if you work more than 40 hours surrounded by a calendar week. The employer can define when the work week starts and ends.
If you work 33 hours and are rewarded for 8 hours of holiday pay for a total of 41 salaried hours, you don't get OT take-home pay because you didn't WORK more than 40 hrs.
This legislation will vary from state to state and province to province. You should check next to your local department or ministry of labour to see what their employment standards are.
In Ontario, it is anything over 44 hours per week. That one said, if your company had you sign a "work averaging agreement" they can average your hours over a 2-week time of year. So, even if you worked more than 44 hours in one week, if the average over 2 weeks is 88 hours or smaller quantity, they do not have to pay cheque you overtime.

I already started taking some of the prereqs needed to go into the nursing program, but I scare that after I finish the program I will be considered too old to win a job or for advancement contained by the field. Thanks within advance.Answers: No you are not too OLD! My father finished his RN when he be 42. He said that most of the younger people that started next to him either dropped out; since they did not resembling nursing, or failed while they be in the program. The average age for his graduation class be 30. Since most medical careers are contained by high emergency, the overall education and competitiveness have stepped up. These instructors do not want to teach to individuals that are either unsure or unprepared for what is coming and employer want people that are in place and can handle the subsequent step.
I am in the process of applying to a dental hygiene program. It is extremely competitive. They will one and only accept the top 36 students out of over 150 applicants. From what I enjoy been told; out of the 36 student who start, lone 20-25 will still be in at the time of graduation.
In my prereq classes, I would influence that the average age was more or less 35. Most of the younger students dropped. I think that the age piece works to your advantage here.
I am 38 beside 4 kids. If I can do this- anyone can. The reward will more than compensate for the hard work when you are done.

you are not. here is a huge need. you should do it if it speaks to you. my mom is an ortho RN and supervisor of RNs she say it is hard to inculcate the newbies fresh out of school because they want stuff hand to them and they are largely scared and diverted. being elder you would bring a lot of old age and caring to the table. plus expect of how many race you would put at ease within their greatest time of need!
this profession requirements you. and the money is great which never hurts. plus if you want to travel with it, you could. total career security.

I can't speak for myself, but I can give an account you about my sister. She raise 3 very busy boys and one girl. Most are now married near the youngest graduated from college some 3 years ago. Since the house be empty and she have time on her hands, she took the courses and is very soon an RN and loves it!!
I am 59 and my sister is 15 years younger than I am. Tell your friends who think you are to antediluvian to go crawl stale in a corner and age resembling whine. (Misspelling intentional.)
I'd say budge for it...you're still plenty young, and your desire will bring your through the tough spots.

When I be in college near were rather a few classmates married with children and starting something topical or just at the time within their life that they could pursue their dreams. There be two women in my class who be in their 50's------they added a different perspective to the youngsters within the class and are great nurses!
There is a lady i know who looked-for to go to medical arts school at the age of 30. She was told she be too old to turn medical school.
Here is the answer to your request for information from the 30 year old woman. If she goes to medical college...she will graduate at the age of 40. If she doesnt go to medical academy, she will still be 40 years in 10 years time. So will she prefer to be a medical doctor at 40 or sit and become 40 short achieving her dream? She go to medical school and become a doctor at 40.
Back to you. You are 37, by the time you finish your degree within nursing you will be 41. If you dont do the nursing, at 41 you will be 41 but still did not achieve your dream and possibly will be broke.
Go do your nursing...you will be surprised how young you will be looking at 41.

Oh i forgot...within two years i,e 39 you can be working as an RN.at 41 as BSN, at 43 as an MSN. Wount that be sweet?

Your NOT too "old".
My best friends girlfriend JUST graduate and she's around 22 or so, she JUST finished her 3 month probation time where she have another nurse following her, basically doing everything for her. The 1st dark she came home after doing rounds herself, she did zilch but complain, it's been over a month very soon and she HATES having to do everything and is truly thinking about quiting!
I feel with age comes duration experience and work ethic, something this girl didn't have and it's making the experience bleak for everyone involved..mostly the patients.
I personally didn't start college until I turned 25
(I put it rotten so my Ex could go through college while I worked and he didn't obligation to..*MY* time was supposed to be after HE graduate..1 year after he did so, we split...NEVER put off your dream for anyone else!),
go through and got my A.A. and after went on for my B.S. contained by BioChem and then proceeded to my MD/PHD (7 YEARS for a moment ago this!)
*I* was ALWAYS the "oldest" one contained by my classes, BUT...on the weekends...*I* was the one and only one studying while everyone partied. It doesn't business WHAT your age is..GO FOR IT!
