Answers: At your age, and given the jobs you register, luck is probably the biggest factor.

Apply to every assignment you can find. When you go, look respectable. I become conscious individuality, but in business, those can be turned off by "cool" things. Dress one plane down from how you'd dress for church. If you don't go to church, don't show much skin, no graphics, no crazy jewelry. Just preserve in simple.
Now, if you be in motion to apply at a tatoo parlor, or hair-dresser, dress as fashionably as you can.
Anyway, progress in next to confidence and ask for an application. Stress your willingness to swot up. Be flexible but honest when they ask you about the hours you can work. They don't want to hear if you can't work on Wednesday's because you enjoy a recurring date beside your friends at the mall.
Be confident and friendly, and shoot for every living that's open. It will come down to who like your first impression and who's hiring at that moment.
Your probability are better though in stores than restaurants. Waitressing is a in one piece skillset that needs to be scholarly. You may have to work at a small place formerly you can move up to a nicer restaurant.
Also, start and try harder at the places you WANT to work. You'll have more fun folding clothes and getting a foolish discount than cleaning out a grease trap and washing dishes.
Be persistant too. You'll catch one of those jobs.
You can achieve in basically about any service type of available job. for example I see high schoolers working at my neighborhood hardware store as cashiers and floor clerks.

I used to be an Executive Recruiter for the IT industry until the industry tanked in 2001. After that I have sales support positions until 2004, when I have surgery and went to temping for personal reason. I have be temping since 2004. I have be trying to get support into the recruiting enclosed space with little nouns, and have finally land an interview with a staffing firm. It have been so long since i interviewed for a perm. position I feel rusty. Any advice/tips on what question to expect or how to best present myself as the right candidate would be appreciated. The position I am applying for is an entry rank position, recruiting for department personnel. I do realize 6 years is too long of a stretch to expect to get stern into an Exec. or senior position immediately. I have read and hold always found to be true that the more question you ask and the longer you keep them conversation, the more they know you're interested in the opening, AND the better they remember you when thinking back on who stuck out better than the others. I predict this is particularly meaningful for a field where on earth an outgoing and unintimidated nature is especially celebrated.
Good questions:
What are some of the characteristics of the most successful culture here?
In your own words, what is the role you need me to flood?
What are your expectations of me for the first six months on the job?
What are some of the issues you are currently face with?
Try not to discuss too much about your temp work or wanting to own your own business or anything. This might come across as flighty or indecisive. Justify your absenteeism from the field if/when it comes up, but focus on what you want to do surrounded by the field into which you are trying to hire.
No slang, cursing, politics, or verbalize about personal problems, even if the interviewer uses them first.
Naturally, you want to verbalize with confidence. When they find question that may address weaknesses surrounded by your experience, be sure your answers are matter-of-fact and unshy.
Most importantly, maintain a positive and friendly attitude, and keep hold of the conversation flowing! At the end of the interview, ask how they feel about their discussion next to you, in doesn`t matter what words you're most comfortable with.
