Well I can speak about you that it's long hours but rewarding at the same time. My father be a professional Italian Chef who studied in Paris, later worked in the United States as economically as on the Princess Cruise Line for 6 mths. It's wonderful if your young and don't own a family. He like being creative and inventing dishes that be WOW!! I would recommend it, esp., for your situation. Try going to school? Yes, it can catch costly, but they do teach you and at the termination of the program, usually set you up with a great profession. And along the lines, you would get your money backbone!! And maybe you wouldn't enjoy to start out as a line cook, due to the experience that you would gain. The take-home pay is great!! Esp., if you can get near a major company or even as a personal chef for someone. Remember though, long hours. But this could be worth it sometime if you plan to open up your own cafe or restaurant.
