What exactly can past employers say about you when questioned by future employer?
Answers: anything except negtive comments. thats illegal
Past employers can say absolutely anything about your work history with them as long as it is truthful or their valid opinion. It is a myth to believe they can only give out dates of hire or rates of pay.
When I get reference calls on past employees who were bad employees, I am honest. I will state they had poor attendance, or bad attitudes or didn't get along with their co-workers or supervisors. We've fire employees for stealing -- and I have shared that information with potential employees.
most employers will say nothing good or bad. only that you worked here from this date to that date.
most won't say anything, because anything can be treated as slander
that you did work there and if they would re-hire you.. dont think they can ask anything else
Ok, for ALL THE POSTERS, that claim that a former employer cannot say anything negative about you...WRONG WRONG WRONG!!
That is the biggest myth that goes around on Y!A's
There is NO LAW in ANY STATE that claims an employer cannot say anything negative about you.
Here is the REAL deal:
1. Most companies CHOOSE to disclose position and dates only.that is to protect their OWN butts...not to help you out, NOR because they can't say anything else.
2. A company can and will disclose any information that is OBJECTIVE and can be proven...such as, "Was Johnny late all the time?" (this can be proven by time records) "Did Johnny ever fail a drug test?" (this can be proven by test results). "Did Johnny meet his sales goals?" (this can be proven by sales records.
3. What a company cannot say without opening themselves up to liability (notice I did NOT use the word illegal).anything that is SUBJECTIVE, such as "Johnny couldn't get along with other employees, " or "Johnny had a bad attitude," or "We didn't like him and we are glad he's gone"
You see the difference?
Now, HOW do you find out if your company is doing this?
Easy. Have a friend to call as if they are from a business and check your reference.
Km, they are not suppose to slander you. Try and get things in writing. Or carry a tape recorder in your next interview.

I don't reason you will get a available job at a shop or anything (not sure of laws within AZ) but you should be able to find something. Ask your parents if within is any extra things you can do around the house for cash.
You cannot officially be hired until you're 16, anywhere.
But try self-employment: Baby-sitting, Dog-walking, etc.

What happen if i don't work my identify when quitting work?
I started a new situation 3 months ago (i signed a contract when i started) but it's been horrible, the promises they made me haven't happen and the people i work witha re horrible to me. They rebuff me all afternoon every day, even at lunch time. They moaned when i have a sick day and the laststraw have been that a relatives friend passed away 3 days ago and they've been amazingly un-supportive and have refuse me time to grieve. My doctor has given me a data but i don't feel i can stir back. They'll be so horrible to me after. I really want to be off but in my contract it say i have to work a month perceive. What will happen if i stay away from to work the notice? I consternation if i hand my interest in and work for the month they'll brand my life hell.Answers: I expect what would happen is you don't seize paid.
I enjoy walked out of a available job before (which be not like me) because of the population there. They threatened to sort me pay my observe, but as I hadnt signed a contract they couldn't do anything. I think you should progress to your local citizens advice or move about on the ACAS website to find out your rights.
But remember - no job is worth fancy like you do.
what does the contract articulate? what happens if you quit lacking due notice? do you lose your foot? are you just worried in the order of a reference, because it doesn't nouns like they are going to make a contribution you a good one anyway.
if you facade no penalties quit presently.but phone them and tell them that you quit.
It depends on where on earth you are located and what the contract says. Did they contribute you a sign on bonus? You may owe them money.
GENERALLY, employment contracts can only be enforced by the member of staff against the employer. Without knowing other facts, I can't answer.
Most likely, you lately quit and they quit paying you. Again, I don't have adjectives the details.

OMG - it sounds like you work at the exact same place I did a year ago - I loathed it so much, it made me physically ill. They be the rudest, most insensitive people I'd ever come across.
I don't know what your contract say, maybe that you'll owe them money if you don't fulfill your contract. You hold to decide if that amount of money is worth it if thats the skin, or tell them you want out of your contract untimely.
You will forfit your 1 months pay, thats why they product you sign a contract stating you will work 1 months notice,if and when it doesnt work out and you start out on the spot, they keep your months retribution as an entiltement pay.
The best entry you can do is give them 1 months observe, date your resignation and state your giving 1 months notice as of --/--/-- date and photocopy it and make available them the original.
This process you will receive all money owed to you.
Also another point to facts is,how long is your probationary period?check your contract that you dont forfit your months wage if you resign surrounded by your probationary period.
I have a job resembling that a few years ago,if you left inside 2 years of starting they sued you for the training money they spent on you(was on the railway) and its another way of keeping you at hand so its just a point to keep hold of a note of.
