Advance surrounded by my profession be I am already salaried okay?
My current career is near a large communications company. I work as a fiber optics technician and clear a better than average living. The problem is I am still young and grain like within is no room for advancement with this corporation. I hold my BAS degree and strong military surroundings. My problem is I don't know people that can relief open up doors for me? How does someone from humble beginnings find a mentor, or institute that might help?Thanks for any support you can provide.
Answers: What do you want to do? I'm assuming you want to stay in indistinguishable field, but of late at a higher even. I'd say, try joining some sort of professional management that has relations in it for the living that you are aiming for. What about some sort of military or veterans type system? It might not be geared toward your field, but you might come across some retired people who hold done what you are interested in doing. In reality, don't overlook retired people - they can present you some good needed perspective.
I'd also ask your boss directly roughly speaking what you need to do to obtain to the next height. If you know what you need to do, try to bring back a bit of experience doing it. This might mean volunteering to work for a project where on earth you'll get those skills. If your company doesn't want to credit you - take those skills and apply for a available job at a slightly higher position surrounded by another company. If you choose a smaller company you might not get an increase contained by pay - but smaller companies usually own jobs that enjoy more components - which can help you within the long run. So you might be able to mortgage more easily or more well get the experience that you want to advance then. On the other hand - another big company might be capable of put you in some sort of executive program. If your company or another one offer educational incentives, nick advantage of it. You will learn how to be ethical. Ethics is everything within business.
If you find someone who you think might craft a good mentor, you might want to consider trying to come together with them. Just ask them for a bit of direction - tell them that you acclaim their career and would approaching to ask them for advice on what you can do. You give the impression of being like you own a good attitude - and race respect that. You might want to try to ask someone who is a couple of levels superior rather than someone who is a moment ago one level greater so that they won't see you as direct competition.
And read a lot - roughly speaking the industry as well as roughly speaking your job. Try to develop big picture thinking - take in your company and how it fits into the communcations industry and how that fits into global industry. This is factor of how executives think.
