Nursing stress?
Hey guys, I am considering becoming an RN but dont know if I could handle the stress of it. I go and get alot of mixed opinions from general public so can any please tell me what is the hardest member of an RNs day? Are you really on your foot for 12 hours a day or is it not approaching that?I would apreciate everyones pros and cons of nursing, it would really help me breed a decision...Thanks everyone!
Answers: whenever you are looking after sick empire, when you see them at their worst, it is stressful, it gets frustrating, the hardest part of a set for me is being nice to someone who is one really nasty, but i do it. i really hate losing patients, and so far hold not lost one that was not NFR. i enjoy been lucky contained by 14yrs. i spend allot of time on my feet, but i sit down to cannulate, transport blood and to do a bp, that is my rest. how much stress you be aware of is entirely personal, you chose your own level of stress. you can verbs about everything, or nought, me i like a sound balance, i pick my battle. you might have a few doomed to failure days, but if you once feel similar to you have made a difference surrounded by someones life, it is adjectives worth while.
intensive care is a specialist nouns, it is more stressful, because the patients are sicker, it can be more interesting, but to be a good ICU nurse you obligation experience, and you get that on the ward. you enjoy to know how to deal next to different people contained by a more intense environment. the wards are fitting, you work hard but you can perceive good at the running out of the day. burn out happen to people within ICU and other specialist areas too. try cardiothoracics that is intense.
It is alot of stress. Many nurses work 8 to 12 hour shifts 3 to 4 days a week, and you are on your foot running around for much of it. In California there is legislation cap the number of patients that we're allowed to take exactness of in an application to not only reduce the amount of running around that we do but enable us to provide better watchfulness for our patients.
On the upside, unlike a job surrounded by the business world, I don't take it home near me when I leave. I'm not forced to stay unpunctually (which might be different within other parts of the country) and I'm not forced to 'work at home' or anything like that... and I've however to actually work 5 days within a week (I do three 12 hour shifts, and have 4 days to suspend out and do whatever).
Don't work on a floor. It will burn you out quick. Go to the ICU where on earth the nurse to patient ratio is 1:2. You'll also acquire a lot more respect when you work the ER or ICU.
Writers strike cross-examine?
WHY CAN'T THEY COME TO AN AGREEMENT OVER THE WRITERS strike?Answers: I think writers hold it better than they realize, tapping into the rich entertainment gravy train, but not long-lasting paparazzi and celebrity stalkers.
I bet we Yahoos could write those TV scripts ourselves, after watching TV for so long. It would solve the networks' problem, and put money contained by our "scab" pockets.
I have given this seriously of thought, and I have contracted I'm too lazy to try.
But wouldn't it be fun?
Please correct me if I am wrong. It is my awareness that the writers union agreed to a contract. In that contract nearby was no mention of getting money for Internet (?) use of the writers product. The writers federation looked at the contract and decided that they have messed up by not requiring that extra payment. The alliance went to the employer, the employers said we are following the contract as is, and the association called a strike.
To me specifically just wrong. If you sign a contract and miss putting contained by something you are just out. I basically seems so undeserved that after the bargain be made the union does an 'oops we messed up' and call a strike.
In a country where the genuine working people are mortal downsized, jobs sent rotten shore, and employee benefits dropping, it is an insult to hold this one group hold TV shows hostage so they can get more money that they did not ask for when the contract be negotiated. Maybe it is time the networks realize that they are no longer the one and only thing on TV. Thank you Comcast Cable for option!
Medical Job Question..?
I would eventually like to turn into medicine, anything from gynocology, to pediatrician, to endocronology, etc. but it seem as though all of the medical career require like almost 10 years of university and other niffty courses. My sound out is, what are some medical jobs that still money very hight, but don't require as abundant years of trainning?Answers: Nurse practioner, Traveling RN, Pharm Rep, Forensic Scienist, Biologist, and as someone else said, Respiratory Therapist. I live in Michigan and most RTs receive about $65,000 starting, but the cutback sucks here, so I am sure everywhere else they make more money. I know travling RTs and RNs engender HUGE money, and usually it's housing, food, car, etc rewarded for plus your making 6 figures. Good operate huh? I also know in Saudi Araba they are within desperate need of RTs contractually and will salary you over $250,000 TAX FREE for 12 months of service. Can you even imagine?
Respiratory Therapy. Training take about 2 years (which I know is still long). You can turn through most community colleges. Usually you assist and monitor individuals on respirators or those going through surgery on a respirator. In metropolitan areas you can make around $80,000 working for one or more hospitals and I know a guy making over $120,000 because he works within pediatric intensive care.
