Answers: Hey, my hubby has be in matching situation since Sep 2006!
My best advice is to appointment ACAS now! they enjoy been the Savior we needed. It's taken from 06 to presently for his current job to know how to legally do anything. DO not consent to your company tell you anything or ask you to do anything until you call for ACAS.
Best to get a officially recognized opinion on this. He be able to use his company sick pay cheque from sep 06 to Jan 07, then be SSP, and now have been on DLA and incapacity benefit as Certain cases of depression can be classed as a disability.
Also as other hold pointed out, as long as you have a sick details from you doctor, they can't fire you!
I know exactly how you feel! :0) Ignore those other two unaware answers as well :0) Sorry to hear your not impression great and hope you get better within the near adjectives!
Please feel free to email me, if you want any more support! :0)
Trisha, Most companies allow such leave if it is proved by a doctor and if you enjoy sick notes from your doctor it would be extraordinarily difficult for them to sack or dismiss you.

If they do sack or dismiss you (which i hope they don't) then you can transport legal conduct against them for unfair dismissal. Im sure they would not want that slack over their heads.
Yes you can. But it's also call constructive dismissal if they are making you leave your profession by making the conditions intolerable.

As long as you have a "doctor's note" later you are legally protected.

If you are merely taking the time off because you "don't touch well" then your overnight case isn't so solid.

If you are a member of a Union, contact your confederation rep, otherwise get proposal from the citizens advice bureau, they will be capable of point you in the right direction for decriminalized advice.
They can sack you as you are stating the problem is at work, so you will be depressed again if you return, so unable to do your profession.
I suggest you think better of yourself and return to work determined to facade up to your team head.
He/she may respect you for it.
I too had a problem next to a manager who soon showed more respect when I begin answering back.
He/she probably don't close to their job and are taking it out on you.
These bullies cart on the weaker employees, so show more strength of qualities and face up to them.
They will move you alone as bullies can't take some of their own tablets.
Depression is a real complaint and alot of people enjoy it, but they don't stay in the environment that they claim is cause it.

If you are not on medication (which your post didn't say you were), later you cannot get "cured".

You hold to learn to live near depression and missing work and all of the financial stresses that go with that...how do you amount that is helping your situation?

It sounds resembling you want attention at work to me...how does your team pacesetter now around your situation? If HR has given you the time past its sell-by date, then how does anyone else know give or take a few your problem unless you tell them?

I know alot of those with depression, various of whom are being medicated...I don't know of ONE that have missed two months of work over it.
In the US, one can be terminated without cause-- unless you are surrounded by a union.

However, you can sue for wrongful termination if the firing be done on the basis of masculinity, race, religion, disability, sexual location, or age. But that's done in the civil courts. And the burden of proof is on you.

If you win, you will be awarded money. But I don't suggest the civil courts have the legalized authority to compel your erstwhile employer to re-hire you.

Most companies do exercise great caution when letting citizens go. They will document everything they can central up to the dismissal.

They are not legally compelled to do this-- they do it because they don't want to be sued. Even if the plaintiff have no case, defending a lawsuit can be terribly expensive. And there is no point counter suing an ex-employee who brings a baseless lawsuit: that human being isn't likely to own much money.

Good luck fighting your depression. It is a TRUE disease and can be debilitating.

I own a small case of it myself and count myself terrifically, very lucky that it's endurable.

I have found I can clash it by doing three things: stay away from drugs and alcohol; get plenty of exercise; and hold on to my home clean.

I realize that this won't assistance anyone with moderate-to-severe depression. But it works for me.

Once again, right luck.
You are a bloody malingerer. Get your lazy ** backbone to work. Two month is taking the micheal.

Depression!!

What a pile of **. Wipe your nose, carry someone to change your nappy, and perchance mummy to hold your hand on the mode in, and carry back to work.

All your colleagues will be suffering as the company will not conscript any extra labour to cover your fantasy, and thusforth need to work harder.

Your teamleader will be beneath more stress from their boss and will no doubt come down heavier on slackers.

I repugnance losers who contract these new-age illnesses like "Depression" and "Stress" it is akin to the doomed to failure back scenario surrounded by the 70's/80's.

Lazy bastard is probably a more honest termination.

Pick up a weapon, and dig contained by, its going to be a long night.

Business overseas?

Ok, so I am an honours finance student who is convocating this year, but I don't really want to work here at home contained by Canada, so I've been seriously looking overseas, especially contained by The Netherlands/Holland. What are the upsides/downsides to this? (Most of the positions I've researched are English speaking)

Answers: I don't see any downs. You seem close to a smart person who know what he's doing, do why not?

Maybe a down side is that it will be hard to procure hired without a scope in that foreign country. But if you turn with a Canadian company surrounded by the Netherlands, then no problem. The expressions barrier might also be a problem, but if you positions are surrounded by English, no problem there any.

The only point is that you will be away from everything that you know and it will be hard starting a hot life and making unmarked friends, especially if you are not bringing family beside you. But over time I bet it will feel resembling a 2nd home.

The Netherlands sounds like a nice place to me, not remarkably dangerous...

i deem it would be a great job and a great experience. well brought-up resume builder if you ever went wager on to canada too.
