Minimum of one year recent experience (within the last 5 years) as a professional registered nurse in a critical care area in which the applicant has had the opportunity to develop as an independent decision maker, demonstrate psychomotor skills and the ability to use and interpret advanced monitoring techniques. Direct patient contact is required.
The requirement for critical care is that you have experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care area, with emphasis placed on invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ventilatory care and pharmacologic management. The preferred areas (with the greatest preference first) are: SICU (Surgical Intensive Care), MICU (Medical Intensive Care), CICU (Cardiac Intensive Care), PICU/NICU (Pediatric or Neonatal Intensive Care). Applicants have also been accepted whose experience is primarily in the Emergency Room, provided they can demonstrate familiarity with invasive monitoring, ventilators, and critical care pharmacology.

Most programs want you to have at least a year in critical care prior to applying and martriculation. This is in addtion to a BSN with an active RN license.

These are graduate level programs and they are competitive. You need strong letters, a strong work ethic and top notch grades.

Life and profession direction?

I am 30 years old and simply finished nursing school. However, I did not elapse the HESI exit exam (made B's in adjectives my nursing school classes), anyway, this flunks you out of the nursing program. I already have a master's degree surrounded by psychology, but the area where on earth I live doesn't really offer me like mad of opportunities to use that level. My student loans and bills from grad school also pilled up to the point where on earth I had to move final in next to my parents.
So, flunking nuring school roughly invaladated the last four years of my duration. I haven't had a serious livelihood while being surrounded by school (mainly waiting table and night job so I could attend class during the day).
Any suggestions for me, aside from jumping sour the highest bridge contained by the city?

Answers: 1) Try deferring your student loans:

2) Move to a city where on earth your psychology degree can be used. Unless you want to spend another 4 years of your natural life trying to become a nurse, you should use the education you already own. A masters in psychology is greatly of education. Start using it. OR...

3) Transfer to a college that allows HESI retakes and see if they'll honor the nursing classes you've taken, and allow you to retake the HESI exam. They may require you to retake the ending semester of nursing at their school. You made have need of to negotiate with several folks at the school, including faculty, advisors, etc., anyone who'll support your hard work for you to complete your education contained by a short time time of year.
Well you have a masters scope and presumably an undergraduate too.
So make use of them by looking for a opening in these areas, and also look into the possibility of re-sitting your exams, or appealing that they be reassessed
You said your nouns doesnt offer much surrounded by the psychology field, how nearly moving? or going into a job that allows you too use clear in your mind skills that you already have.
( how going on for consulting the careers counsellor at your nusrsing school?)
.
WOW!

Can you pocket the test again? Are you really sure you want to present up without trying again?

If you are not interested contained by trying again, what else might you be interested in? It really sounds like you are interested surrounded by a health-care or social services field.

You may want to speak near a coach. We can try to help amount out what your next steps may be base on your likes and dislikes and what it in fact is you like something like nursing or psychology.

If you want a free 1 hour consultation (no obligation), send me an email and we'll set something up.
Sorry you flunked out, but could you bring back a job as a Health vigilance assistant, you could earn a living and help to recompense off your debts..in attendance would be opportunities for lots of overtime, and bring every opportunity to work nights and weekends.

Once you are financially straight look at your option again.

You might be 30 but you have heaps many years of working vivacity ahead of you..
