Careers Employment Questions and Answers

I'm applying for a employment at the library?

I'm applying for a job at my local library (I'm 15).
I told my friend in the order of it, and she went and talk to the lady specifically in charge of hiring, and be given a scheduled interview! So she go to the interview and is told the spot has be filled but one will probably spread out about 2 weeks from presently, and that she'll be the first one hired.

I'm having a intricate time believing this. First of all she never chock-full out an application. I've spent a LONG time on mine, I even got a suggestion from a librarian at my Highschool! My application is pretty much flawless.
But now I don't even know if I should bother turning it surrounded by, will they even look at it? I called and they said the spot be filled but you can still turn within applications. Should I just hang about until another spot is definitely overt?
I feel so defeated, I'm trying to be cheery for my friend but I'm really mad that she doesn't even appear to care what an opportunity she have. I would've killed for that situation x_

Answers: Go to the library with your application and ask to bargain to the person who is surrounded by charge of hiring. Suggest that you could volunteer part-time until a chore opens up. My daughter volunteers at the library and is 15, and she have a good relationship near the person within charge so will be quickly hired. Also, ask your librarian at the conservatory to call and homily to the hiring librarian on your behalf. Don't go contained by with a chip on your shoulder and don't whine in the region of the "friend" who got the situation. Just show that you really will be an asset, and are willing to volunteer for a bit to show them how all right you work in the library environment. Go for it!! Good luck.

You want to pay a fee to get work training?

Hmmm. instead, have you thought about applying for jobs with places that are happy to take unskilled workers and train them?

I know people like to make fun of fast food restaurants, for instance, but did you know that McDonald's has a world-class management training program, one that other employer's look very highly on if they see it on an applicant's resume? It's very competitive to get into, ofcourse. But working at a place like McDonald's gets a paycheck, on-the-job training and more, if you are a particularly outstanding employee.

Also, call your local United Way and see if there are nonprofit organizations that provide training (basic computers, typing, basic secretarial tasks, etc.) and career counseling as well.

Two skills that will get you far are (1) typing fast and accurately and (2) being able to answer the phone in the "smooth" voice (yes, even in this age of automated phone answering systems).
