You are right. Your boss is acting very childish and intensely unprofessional. If her anger over your missing this party cause actual problems at work, you should consult your HR department, or even go and have a chat with her boss and explain the situation.


First, dispatch your boss and e-mail explaining exactly what happened and why you are disappointed next to her behavior. A copy of that e-mail may help you if you consent to this slide and she tries to nail you for something down the road.

Was turnout really poor at this party? Was your boss purely upset at everyone for not showing up? Was she hurt for this other lady who retired?
