I am 51, and you do not necessarily requirement a 5 yr plan, but it does give you goal to strive for. Even very long residence goals, similar to 30 years down the road is good, and feel good when you net them.
Example: Ever since I was a child, I set a dream to own season tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals. Well this year I made that goal and feel a sense of accomplishment. To make this accomplishment, I have to achieve masses other goals I set over 5 to 10 years, after reviewed, and set more goals.

Since you already have entrepreneurial experience, why not start your own business. My neighbor girl started, "Alex's Pet Paradise" and she is just 10. She put up flyers in our neighborhood and immediately has several clients.
