wait tables for over 10 years I remember this as man the number one complaint about waitresses 50 years ago, and it is STILL done. Take somewhat care within pouring the coffee. Big deal, you might speak. But nearly every waitress I know just sloshes it into the cup. How does this irk customers? When you raise the cup to take a drink, the coffee that collected around the bottom of the cup is going to drip on your shirt. And there's never extra napkins at the table for verbs up.

When I walk into a place. My waitress automatically have a 15% tip. A pleasant smile and a hello is a good start. If I hold a question something like the menu, a waitress who is knowledgeable nearly that is nice. If near isn't a big glob of coffee trapped in the saucer collecting on the bottom of the cup is a huge plus. Prompt transport of a hot meal is nice.
