I am a nurse at a generous level 3 trauma center within Boston, Massachusetts. I love it! It is very stressful at times, but all right worth it. So lets see I will do my best to answer you question.
1. I work 40 hours/wk. Two 12 hour shifts/ Two 8 hour shifts. At my hospital some people work 3/ 12 hour shifts = 36 hours. Most hospitals are flexible around work, because they are so desperate for nurses. Lots of per diem work. Oh and where I work we hold to do 1 weekend every three weeks.
2.You do have a go if you want one! Its as simple as that. I am very live ...skiing all winter surrounded by the moutains and beaching it down on the cape.
3. Your domestic life adjectives depends on the shift you work. Its all relative..You could coach a troop if you had a set rota. Most nurse managers would offer you a set day sour if you told them in mortgage you need every say-so tuesday off.
4.I love self a nurse because its so rewarding. Most patients are grateful to you. Its also nice because you are constantly learning topical things. I recommend it because it makes life span complete doing nice things for people. It is enormously stressful at times though, and you really need to be focused and organized.
