I graduate in the top of my statute school class, worked numerous internships while surrounded by law academy (including working at my state's Supreme Court as a law clerk- a really prestigious internship), and I have sent out all right over 50 resumes. Everyone thinks that I am outstandingly qualified, but then doesn't want to hire me.

Here's what my wife and I do:
We own a general pool of money and a budget. If anything costs more than $25, we yak about it formerly we buy it. But each month we respectively get $100 to spend however we want, no question asked.
