Well I am a long drag flight attendant for a major airline - and I absolutley love it!
It's definately are deeply prestigous job and when walking through the terminal everyone only just looks at you - it's an amazing feeling. Most society that travel know that becoming a flight attendant is not easy. more than 500 culture applied and only 30 be selected at my intake.
Not individual are we waiters and cleaners, but nannys, policemen, firefighters, flawless listeners, entertainers, mechanics, plumbers, medics and most importantly are competent to help evacuate a plane surrounded by an emgergency, which is the part of the training which take the most. There is an 80% pass blotch for tests and practicals when it comes to emergency procceduers and we are tested every 6 months.
Career prudent there is plently of trade progress. You start of as an economy attendant - but don't muse business class is out of reach, I be also trained in business. From near you can become a dedicated Business Class and first class attendant which way you will 99% of the time work in these cabin unless called out of catergory. From nearby you can become a second senior, then a supervisor, after a manager. you could also become a trainer. You may establish to be invloved with oodles of the companies programs to develop better techniques on the train.
I learn dozens of current things everytime I fly. From other crew and the passengers. I might cram about a different city or why a governmentt have introduced a new policy. you'll also encounter frequent situations on board - some brand name you laugh and some will be a interview of character. My favorite though is dealing near passengers that don't speak english. It's great fun trying to obtain the message to them such as what do you want to drink or sorry we've run out. Although my airline doesn't give free tickets (and can't imagaine several that do) We get unlimited travel at nearly 95% past its sell-by date the price - Not bad. And I get plently of days past its sell-by date not only home but as you would expect overseas. This month for example (May) I am only working 80 hours - that's partially the amount of working hours for a 9-5 job
Of course at hand are a few downsides. You will miss birthdays etc. but that just routine you have to paint the town red when you get rear legs - And you'll probably give better presents too that you've sourced from you adventures in a foreign country.
