Basically I beliave you asking around if paintball fields would clear you salary or if they in recent times let you earn the use of the paddock and paintballs/equipment.
Most fields will compensate salary to any actuall human resources, some fields will sometime ask for VOLUNTEER refs, wich usually will allow you to return with on the course without paying an entrance levy, probably free air. I know some of the guys I know who work at field usually get some paint for free and they attain to play for free if they aren't reffing that day.
The biggest item about it is that you really stipulation to be experianced at paintball before you ref games, or work on the field or pro shops, there is alot of safekeeping issues when dealing with HPA or CO2 swarm stations. I used to work in a pro shop and they are really picky roughly speaking who does filling of tank because it can be very dodgy.
If you are wanting to become a ref you should ask your local field more or less letting you observe their refs to swot how to call the hobby. You also might want to find out about restrictions on age, alot of pasture wont let anyone underneath 18 work there.
