I have be a professional for six years now. In this time, I hold worked in 4 different office. It totally depends on the office culture. In my current setting, we adjectives have television and it's not uncommon for those to rock their music so loud that everyone within a 20 foot extent could hear it. But, I am in a studio and it is totally appropriate for the organization culture here. In your avg. office though, I would totally not take off on my ring tones, I would not have wallpaper on my computer, and I would try to be as plain-Jane as possible. Although these may be things that you close to, they may totally disturb someone elses workflow and they may consider it to be distasteful.
