I have be researching this at length for about 3 months. The driver turnover rate is currently at 130%, sounds upsetting doesn't it? It seems that the biggest problem most enjoy is not enough funds to start as an owner operator (O/O), or getting into a lease accord with one of the plentiful carriers out in that. If you start out by buying a truck, and leasing on with a company (not impossible to tell apart as leasing a truck FROM a company), you need to enjoy enough money to run for a month beside no income, this could be upwards of 25,000.00. You will be getting checks, but you need that reserve. Their are plenty of laods out here, just not that masses paying over 2.00 per mile. As you educate yourself on this, don't soley rely on the dollar a mile amount, what you make DAILY is particularly important, perchance more. Go to WWW.CLASSADRIVERS.COM and join, incredibly informative. Listen to XM 171 in the morning, Dave Nemo SHOW and listen at 4:00 (MST) to Landline immediately, put on by OOIDA (Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association) and also join OOIDA.
