NP's are trained to treat the WHOLE patient as a Primary Care Provider We will do a thorough ..hand on ...history and physical to outline the problem. Then YOU and your NP can make an informed judgement on your diagnosis & treatment option. We spend more TIME... M.D's are trained look for a 'medical problem' in the quickest possible time, grant you a prescription, and toss you out the door. Registered nurses cannot ..diagnose, treat or prescribe meds. Several studies have shown NP perfectionism to be equal to or significantly better than an M.D.
My program was 4 yrs college for a BSN, later 3 yrs in a Masters point program for NP's. No 'medical school' involved. In my state in NewEngland we spend 24 months after graduation working near supervision. After that we can practice completely autonomously and prescribe any meds necessary and refer you to appropriate facilitate when you need added expertise. You can even open your own clinic.
Last but not leastthere is the income...we get 1/2 what an M.D. make...between $30 and $45 bucks an hour. We also pay plentifully less for malpractice insurance and are NOT $150,000 within debt upon graduation. See your NP today !
Depends on the jurisdiction that you are registered in, but collectively a qualified nurse with aditional records to undertake some tasks usually reserved to Doctors.
And example would be a Nurse trained for emergency care within remote areas authorised to diagnose some conditions and prescribe appropriate medication or under bring simple surgical proceedures without recourse to a Doctor.

did the company make money? if so, enjoy a strike and demand more money, group power. if, what is preventing it from happening again? is it something you don't know? time to look for another profession?
Not fair, but immaculately legal, unless you hold an employment contract that states that if you don't make a constant salary amount, supervision is obligated to compensate you for the difference (kind of like what restaurants do next to their waitstaffs' tip income).
You never need to "suck it up". Perhaps the best tactic at this point is to sermon to management. Tell them indistinguishable thing that you told us: everyone have worked long and hard this year, and not a soul understands why they aren't self compensated as they were surrounded by past years. Only this opening will you find out what's on management's "mind". Also, this might be a good mode to find out if the company is in financial trouble, and donate you a chance to bail beforehand things get any worse.
