I work for an IT department in a big company and my team supports all the server hardware within our datacenters. The server hold vital information and also run our company's internal and external webpages. I simply got a different boss and he handed out little poster which he would similar to everyone to stick on their cubes. Basically the poster refers to the datacenters as sanctuaries and temple and to keep them holy and verbs. Yeah, it doesn't say anything in the order of specific religion, but I found his analogy strange and athiests in our group are more uncomforable near the situation. Is this strange?

it sounds like this poster didn't enjoy its intended effect...but he is the boss and he is supposed to set priorities for the department, and you are smart enough to know what me routine, even if you don't want his poster on your worstation. If he turns out to quote bible verses give or take a few everything I can understand why citizens would be bugged, but this one instance seems more awkward than filthy.

He's trying to sort a point, religious or not people will take the point. It might have be said a little better but I hope we hold not gotten so "sensitized" that a simple sticker with that phrase on it is plenty to enrage the tons.
Sounds like he's trying to bring in a reference to a picky religion without coming right out and proverb it...trying to avoid potential legal issues.
The boss can only list some unfinished housekeeping guidelines for being orderly and organized...should be discussed beforehand with adjectives employees next to an explanation and posted in a broad area.
