I had relatives in Houston when I be a kid, we still have friends within, and I go in that a couple of times a year (we live in Austin). Given a choice, I would own Houston pretty low on places I would choose to live. It is hot and humid and subject to hurricanes and flooding.
However, there are flawless points and I would not rule out the city without at tiniest doing more research. There are many nicer areas to live surrounded by surrounding Houston and as a city it offers closely to do.
