Careers Employment Questions and Answers

seniority?

Question:
can someone please explain this whole seniority entry on a workplace? why is it someone who is new approaching me has to step a narrow string but someone who is old and be here forever can make mistakes adjectives day long? what is up near this is it a double standard?

Answer:
The fact that someone have survived here for that long means that he or she couldn't enjoy always made mistakes. I tight-fisted, they might have at the commencing, but have learn from them, or have learn to hide them :)

Another justification why their mistakes are pardoned is that individuals know them. When you know someone for a few years, you aren't too happy pointing out their mistakes. But if you're current, you're as good as a stranger, so its natural for someone to point our your mistakes.

I lost my first job exactly because of this explanation. I'm sure everyone has at least possible suffered on their first few jobs because of this seniority or experience business. I know what it manner.
Unfortunately that's just how things are sometimes. You probably won't know how to change it if specifically how things have be for a long time at that Company. It could change if someone modern comes in from outside the Company to a extremely senior position and makes sweeping change.
Life isn't fair and this is newly one of many examples of it.
Work not easy yourself and gain experience and knowledge within your own job, something like the Company, and in the job of others. You can then show how meaningful you are to the Company.
And make sure you don't extension up like the individuals you mention.
seniority is concerend with contained by labour canon paralance "last come first to go" so they are protected to infallible extent then a junior most member of staff. There is thing call "super seniority" certain alliance officials are treated specialy becase of the post they hold. But surrounded by wok place there should not be any double standard you can help yourself to up with your difficult official for redress the match.
a new hand always walk a narrow dash, it isn't just a situation of seniority either, it's getting to know a personage, what they are capable of, what is their sense of humor approaching? do they have a flawless work ethic or do they do as little as possible? after you've been around awhile, you'll see that you will be treated differently too

Can my employer fall my hours of work whenever they get the impression resembling it?

Question:
i was contracted to work 25 hours, they enjoy just reduced them to 20 in a minute they are saying they will own to reduce them to 18, can they do that

Answer:
It depends on your contract. Some employer can do it unfortunately. Take your contract to the citizens suggestion bureau and they will help you to engineer sure and check for any loop holes or anything in it that will protect you.

Good Luck XxX
The boss can do anything they like. If you are a contract hand it should be spelled out in your contract.
as far as i know they enjoy to keep to your contracted hours but you would be better checking on the DSS website or G00GLE below employment rights.
They can not reduce them below your contracted hours. Contact your grouping. Or the citizens advice if your not surrounded by an union.
If you hold writing document where they stated the numbers of hours properly they can not do that is alike than reducing your salary, shift to the citizen for advise
Have you signed a contract to speak that you were employed for 25 hours next if not they can do that but if you own signed then they hold to give you 90 days sense.
no,but if he does,he has to wage you for your contracted hours,contact-ACAS,they will tell you more.
when you enunciate contracted, do you mean that something be signed between the employer and yourself, or was it in recent times a verbal promise?

any way, yes, they can do that. workload fluxation is exceptionally common.

also, adjectives employment that i know of is 'at will'.no contracts or promises on either side.
No, your contract is a lawful document. Legally you're employed to work 25 hours, so you should be allowed to work 25 hours..
no they cant unless its stated in the contract of work and if they do they are surrounded by breach of contract
Check the small print in your contract. they may know how to do that. you may have signed a contract that states the most they can force you to do is 25 hours not the other track round.

What I would do is pull the boss to one side and notify them this...

" ...if you reduce my hours any more, or even bequeath me any more crap, ill follow you home and plauge you till im bored next to you.
Ill put cochroaches through your door, get my dog to crap on your grass, brick your windows and smear your door next to human waste. Then bad find out where you walk out drinking and spread vicious rumours that your a freak and a paedo, ill befriend your friends and turn them against you and below par become a living nightmare to you...
thats if I dont just be in motion into your office and overcome myself up then right to be heard you did it to me.
OH, AND ILL BURN DOWN YOUR HOUSE, ,,, I like fire!"

Good luck.
Depends on the fine point contained by your Employment Contract you do have a right to own a copy ask for one.
Depends upon the details of your contract.
Does it specify that you will remain at 25 hours per week?
Is there any provision for shifting the hours?
Has the contract expired?
What are your options to negotiate underneath the contract?
You say you are contracted. Check your contract to see if it have a provision allowing them to do this. Most of the time the employer will have something within there to cover their own behinds.
Different companies hold different policies. They should give you credit notification if they are going to cut your hours - as this will also affect your sick pay and annual give allowance. Talk to your manager if you enjoy concerns.

One of the benefits offered at my mom's mission is tuition assistance. What is this?

Question:
Is it like college tuition?

This is probably a dumb sound out but I was a moment ago wondering.

Answer:
Usually it means that the brief will provide up to a certain dollar amount a year or permanent status for college courses. Often they will only extend it for courses related to the job or they will also grant more money for courses related to the job.
yes, sort some extra money as a teen here:

http://easymoneymakingcareer.blogspot.co...

Good luck
I am assuming that if one decides to verbs their education, later the company will assist on paying a portion of the cost, but the person must verbs working at company.
It will help clear for college tuition, it will also pay for training programs to finance her career. Some companies will donate assistance to there kids as resourcefully. But there is usually a bonnet, like 5000 a year. Also some degree and programs may not be covered.

A grill for old pupils near a BA surrounded by English?

Question:
Have you found success beside your degree or do you regret majoring surrounded by English

Answer:
I use mine as a freelancer and love it. I write, edit, proofread, etc and win paid for it. It have really paid sour for me.
I am very content with my choice... I can edify, freelance edit or offer myself to writting. I suggest that if you are doubtful as to which major is best for you other people experience will not be of much help.
Career counseling or probably some soul searching might be a better answer
I'm an get and I have a minor within English. That is a strong point on my resume. Employers appreciate a person who can write a simple sentence correctly.

Even if you don't work within your field, purely the fact that you hold a good grasp of the English terminology will be a strong point ion your favor.

Would going straight from college to graduate institution brand me overqualified for enduring job when I'm out?

Question:
I know engineers who have gone straight for a masters (or even higher) and when they get out, they were told they be overqualified for all the job they applied for. Should I work between college and graduate school first? Or should I newly go for it? And is person overqualified for a job of late a fancy way of aphorism they don't want to pay what you're worth?

Answer:
I am an obtain (B.S. '94). You could go any way. If it be me, I'd get a commission after school...but I am not into R&D at adjectives. I love being a process/support plan on a manufacturing procession. So for me, having a sophisticated degree surrounded by engineering would be "nice", but it wouldn't raise my reward. And if I went for another duty, I might be considered overqualified.

Companies do pay more for M.S. and PhD's, but they will not hire them for dependable engineering positions - like process engineers. Why income more? BUT, if you are into R&D and the pure science (some of the PhD's I know are pure geniuses), then going to college after getting your B.S. is a good passageway to go. I one-sidedly like the project running and excitement of the factory floor. I know I am not very innovative and don't come up beside the new stuff...but I can implement close to you wouldn't believe.

So what kind of personage are you and where do you want to dance? That will help you clear up your mind...
Go for it! Education can never be taken away. You can teach near a Masters and nothing smaller quantity at College level. It is far easier to be underqualified than overqualified!
Not at adjectives, It will only bring in you finish with your studies before and you wont have to be working and worrying going on for studies, what ever you study for will make you bring back what you are looking in the work force easier.experience within the field of work may cost for a time problem as regarding to over-qualified.
a few things to consider: if you get hold of a job 1st, our employer may remuneration for your grad school, or at smallest help you out. working first also give you real world experience, which i contemplate is sometimes more valuable than a phd or masters, etc. and yes, it is only just a fancy way of them maxim we can't afford you! ultimately i really thing it depends on the enclosed space.
Look at some of the positions you'd eventually like to enjoy when you're finished with conservatory. Do they require a Masters? If they don't, why pay for one? They are normally unnecessary education, some of which you earnings for but never use. Much of the rest, you can get from experience, and They remuneration You for that! If you eventually hit a glass ceiling from want of a MS, many companies will reimburse some or adjectives of your education expenses.

I work as a sale assistant at a all right certain retail outlet but am have problems beside troop administrator..?

Question:
i am 22 years of age and work as a sales assistant Tues-friday and sundays. I am experienced contained by the photographic section both contained by the photographic lab and sales as i enjoy been working within since 2004. I do want to find another job as my contract states i work on sundays individual but am doing extra hours during the week. Anyhow i have be doing this for about two years full time, because when i started i be a student but decided to sign out college due to personal circumstances. I also have a saturday position as a receptionist i have over 5 years experience surrounded by that. So my only year off is monday. Anyhow within are about 3 troop managers within our store and one off them that manage our section have been picking on me, in good health when all cashing up is done every nite be meant to finish at 6 but cashing up take about 5 mins however someone from our troop needs to lug safe key for the store, as manager take shop keys. There is a group sour like 6 society but team administrator always picks on me to whip them,

Answer:
Contact the Human Resources person for your company and consent to it be known.
doodad
Quit
Go to the toilet at closing time , he will own to get someone else to do it or he'll preserve everyone waiting. Other than that shoot him.. Then u'll get a nice hot bose hopefully!
Maybe she trusts you more than the rest. Having the keys shows responsibility.
Yes you do obligation to stand up to her and say that you are putting surrounded by extra time but not getting paid. I would suggest you articulate you don't mind helping out but that your employer should show that it values its workers by paying them for any extra hours. If you tell her within a reasonable friendly carriage with a smile on your face-she will be ok beside you I bet. You need to rehearse what you influence to her. Don't be confrontational. Just say that you don't mind helping her out if the firm shows its appreciation by paying you for those extra hours you put surrounded by. Remember to smile at her. She won't be able to resist your charm! Good luck
Have a melodious word with the troop leader his/her justification for doing this. If your not satisfied beside the reason next arrange a meeting beside the team leaders boss, or type them a note with adjectives your concerns.
speak to another of the team manager and express your concerns, point out that you have worked in that a long time and help them out next to the extra hours and whilst you dont mind taking your turn at this task, you discern that it is not fair that you are other the last to disappear the store and you feel that a rota should be drawn up that does this in principle. (this is the sensible way to turn about it, me intuitively would tell her to her frontage politely of course, but i would not be bullied at work and would convey her straight)
Maybe the manager feel you are the most responsible and should take the key. If you don't want to do it, suggest someone else and give a idea they should do it instead of you. Sounds like you requirement to take a time off and destress. Good luck.
Get a new opportunity!!
Tell this manager how you have a feeling...What can you lose? You said you want a new livelihood anyway, and if you quit then you can't draw job loss, but if the manager fires you, you can...The worse this individual can do is fire you...So speak up and tell them...I don't mind doing this once contained by a while, but I think it's simply fair that adjectives of the 6 people pinch a turn...he just might respect you more if you speak up...Good Luck
Talk to one of the other troop leaders about this. Suggest a rota should be made for the responsibilty - that style everyone has a turn. And it's totally undeserved that you are expected to come in on your soon off - if you agree to this it will lately continue. Also converse to the store manager if it's not resolved. Be prepared to give somebody a lift things higher - such as an nouns manager for the company if requests be. This is bullying at work and should not be tolerated!
Document EVERYTHING, who takes key when etc. Then go to HR. Expect to capture the "oh we don't get involved surrounded by personality conflicts" strip, but ask for it in writing. Then hang on to documenting. You may not be able to stop getting picked on, it might even create it worse.
I had a boss "pick on me" to pressure me to shift part time. I refuse to let her bother me until, she tried to go and get me fired. I lost my job, but won a wrongful termination suit because of my DOCUMENTATION

Would you fairly live in the neighbourhood household, or where on earth you don't know anyone but hold lots of brief opening?

Question:
The area in the vicinity family have fewer errand opportunities, but the other is away from adjectives family and friends. What would you choose?

Answer:
Do you enjoy a family of your own or do you live alone? If you own your own familly, the support of people around you can be invaluable and enrich your children's lives. However, if you live alone, you might want to shift where the job are. It's important to construct a life for yourself and start a job.

Plus, remember -- you can always move stern!
I would chose both
Would you be happier seeing your family or have a career? I don't devise I would ever move away from my family.
I would hold to go beside moving and getting a good errand..This does not mean that some daylight you can't move back..Family and friends are key don't get me wrong, But a move approaching this will make you stronger character, and help you grow and cause decisions so you can become a better party. good luck next to this, even though your away from family and friends you'll other have them within your heart.

Always dress smart, not ott though. Like a blouse/shirt or smart top with respectable/formal trousers/skirt. A smart jacket will do you don't inevitability to go out and buy a suit. And other wear a smile to the interview.

First appearances count big time. They're not just seeing your outfit but your facade and body language as economically. Be and look enthusiastic about the chore, don't go ott resembling I'm really up for it and want to make a profession of it! Just showing that its somthing you want to to gain experience from as well as earn a bit on the side. And look at the positives aspects of the job and approaching when answering q's about yourself.

But at this stage when you first waddle through the door you should create a good dent. Think about it, the chore their offering anyone can learn to do, so whats left- customer service. If you look presentable and go off a good mark with the employer they are most likley going to expect ok shes going to be good beside the customers and so thats like 45-50% passed.

I was looking a slice time job for ages and I saw interviews as a class where on earth I learnt the do's and don'ts of intervies and made transcript on feedback and techniques. This get me a very fully clad part time post in a nickname centre where on earth I can now move up and around if I considered necessary thanks to my previous interviewer relating me what criteria I didn't fulfil. Remember its not what youv'e done wrong it's what you havn't done and find this out and in the subsequent interview you'll be laughing.

Smart relaxed - like greatly of people enjoy said.
Make sure you clean your shoes. A lot of employer say they look at an applicant's shoes, it's a humane of giveaway that they're not really as smart as they claim, if they can't be bothered to do that.
Congratulations on getting an interview..!! I'm guessing this is your 1st..

No: Jeans, caps, trainers, hoodies, imperturbable cardigan

Wear: Stud earrings (not a lot of jewellry - judge chav), hair smartly tied back, verbs shoes preferably black, black/navy trousers (all depends on what you have), black/white shirt (no creases!!), minimal makeup - mascara, little blush, and lip gloss is fine, verbs neat nail - no bright colours. You won't need a suit jacket or anything.. a short time ago a clean coat will do.

Be confident - at lowest possible try to apepear so..!

dress casual as most resturant own a uniform.maybe wear their colors so they'll at most minuscule see you have the attire, but for dress casual
Good suggestion above. Wear khakis, a white shirt and a armada blazer or jacket.

Shoes should be a neutral brown, lace up.

Wearing a suggestion of company colors is a great opinion.

University Acceptance and Letters of Recommendation?

Question:
I am entering my last year of community college and hold been seriously looking at what I obligation to accomplish in this subsequent year in lay down to become a better candidate for university acquiescence. I've been thinking profoundly about Letters of Recommendation and how to get your hands on them.

I am a Computer Science major who hasn't really be involved with much inside my university walls (other than my classes). I never really made friends with any professors (just showed up, and did my work). So how do I catch letters of opinion? Should these letters be from ethnic group within my amount department (ie. computers/science)? The only instructors I've built a repoir near have be my French and Student Success instructors, would that work?

Should I consider some sort of volunteer work within the community (maybe volunteer at a senior center law computers or something) and ask administrators near?

Answer:
Yes, absolutely

What are the benefits of have member of staff photos on a company intranet? Any articles on this?

Question:
I want to make a crust to senior management within favour of have staff photos/profiles on our intranet and would ideally like to point to a travel case study or research paper. We hold many organization all over the world and project squad members regularly comprise people who never carry to see each other. From my experience working for a different company, knowing what your teammate looks resembling is usually good for impressive collaboration. Do you agree? Does your company have your photos on your intranet? Are you aware of any published studies within this area?

Answer:
I work for a tremendously large American multinational.

A couple of years ago they put adjectives their "organograms" , complete with photos, on their intranet, however they did not bother to include photos of the guys who work OUTSIDE the organization, the technical or production workers if you will.

The rumour be that the production guys were adjectives too ugly!

The with the sole purpose time we look at the pictures is, we look at the office girls to see what ones we would approaching to "hump" ( as if).

I agree that a picture speaks a thousand words, I wonder how many those have be passsed over for a job because contained by their photo they were shocking, or the wrong ethnicity.

I know of one guy whose parents were european but he be born in Kenya. So on his company Cv it say "Kenya" as his place of birth. He was applying for overseas postings but getting nowehere. Then the pictures started appearing on the intranet and suddenly he get offered postings. Because he looks European.

Many of the office staff put like mad of effort into getting their intranet photo "a short time ago right" becuase they know how important it is to enjoy the right image. They will ask to "vet" the photo since it goes on the website.

What I'd utter is, if you are going to do this then include EVERYBODY, from the top right down to the bureau cleaner. And allow them to vet their photos first.
We do not have photos on our website... and as example of why not..
The local credit association has removed the pictures of the board of directors from the department They still have the name listed... but due to safekeeping concerns they were advise to take the pictures down.. Their explanation be... if someone wanted to rob the credit federation they could identify someone by their pic and use them as a hostage...
seemed far fetch to me..
Now the local bank is doing like peas in a pod thing... also the hospital have removed the pic of the board of directors...
I guess it is just a precaution..
Maybe a solution for your belief:
Pics on a company website.. Let the employees login to a member only nouns.. the pics could be available there minus causing any unsystematic of threat to the employees... also bequeath the employees an opportunity to opt our of the picture posting...

Good luck
What ever amount the client is prepared to pay for your service.

What do you believe more or less this hypothesis for a undertaking interview?

Question:
Hey Dudes! I am really excited and stoked about individual fresh out in the post market again.

So I own this really excellent idea for my subsequent job interview- especially if the interview is beside a Pet company or similar enterprise.

While I am answering questions contained by the interview, the employer may ask why I am qualified for the job. In response, I will respond as follows:

"Oh yes! I am massively enthusiastic about this assignment. I can start immediately, and I am looking forward to working for your fine company. And, I get a case of worms!"

- At this time, I would without delay get on the floor and start scooting around on my buttocks, next to a large grin on my obverse.

Do you think they will hire me? : P

Answer:
Sounds dutiful to me. Don't forget to sniff the spot were you rubbed your butt on after..
They will probably call for 911 to take you to the nearest psych ward for a 72 hour hold.
Not expected. Sorry. Funny though. I'd like to see that interview.
depends, I don`t know they need to do animal carrying out tests, in that casing you would fit in merely fine
OH yes that defenitly works, I have a friend that have a co-worker and her boyfriends cousin's across the street neighbors grandson's best friend since kindergarten said that at his first job interview and it totally worked! You should defenitly do that.
It depends, as you would expect, if they are otherwise very much impressed by you. They can, however, ask you to dispatch some certificates something like your mental and physical condition.

After visiting doctors, you can fetch those papers back to the company surrounded by your mouth, barking at like peas in a pod time. They should be much more impressed of your involvement, I think.
AWESOMEDo it!

If I be the interviewer I would think you be either:
a.) crazy
b.) a hoot

either course, you will probably get hired. honourable luck.

What are some examples for the cross-question "what is your greatest weakness" contained by a opportunity interview?

Question:
please i dont know how to answer this question

Answer:
I only had an interview a few weeks ago. It be a phone interview, that lasted 90 minutes! My answer be that I sometimes act minus thoroughly thinking things through. Some people are extremely conservative, others like me are aggressive. I am working on it though and getting much better. I get the job.
Try variation of either:

"I hatred to lose so I work very easier said than done to assure success and sometimes don't know when to provide up"

or

I'm committed to excellence so I have a difficult time "settling for" when something smaller amount is acceptable to others.

Be cautious though to not suggest you can't work with others. Just couch it within terms of doing a great profession.
As a manager, I'd steer you away from the popular "I'm too much of a perfectionist" answer. Not lone is this normally not true anyway, but if it is, that will motivation me problems at some point as well. Try to come up near something true. Something that you learned just about yourself in your ultimate job and own spent some good time and stab strengthening. That will show honesty and work ethic. At least to me, it would. That is, instinctively, as long as it's not something like you've cut down drinking on the charge or making lewd comments to your co-workers. ;-) Good Luck.
The classic answer is "I never say NO to more work" or "I spread myself too tight with multiple assignments." Another polite answer is "I don't speak any foreign languages."
Amanda,
I am a head and have used that examine before. One moral one I heard be, "I sometimes take my brief too seriously, I really like to do my best and I hold myself to a dignified standard." So its a weakness, but it still sounds biddable. Whatever your "weakness" is, make it something that would not be counter productive at the singular job you are applying for (ie. don't say-so, I'm really not a team player, when the duty involves working with a big group). Also, if you want to use a true inadequacy, let's say, procrastination, follow up beside what you are doing to correct the behavior (we love that stuff)! Best of luck.
say i tend to be a perfectionist . i tend to want adjectives i do to be done perfectly.
i tend to involve myself too greatly in my work and hold to be reminded that i should only work a resonable number of hours . afterwards if asked what that means as for hours utter 60 per week.
next speak you often tend to be to polite and should stand up for yourself more but your newly not like that you do what your told and never complain.
Think just about this...how are weaknesses great?

Answer this beside pointing out your strengths and let them know you do not dwel on low standard.

There are some good articles nearly believing in yourself on this site. Check them out and I don`t know they will help.
Basically the undercover to this question is to answer near something that you want the employer to think of as a strength, not as a impediment. Several of the comments about one a perfectionist, not saying no to addt'l work, etc. are fitting ones.

I've heard "I receive engrossed within my work and can be a workaholic, and sometimes need to remind myself to be a bit more balanced".

Another one is "I can be inpatient when things are slower than they should be" which shows you are someone who requests to work at a brisk speed, get things capable, etc.
As a manager I ask this put somebody through the mill to see what kind of BS answer I'm going to capture <lol> I hate it myself because NO ONE is going to tender you a straight answer. What I'm looking for is how you answer the question, not necessarily what you say-so. If your answer reeks of BS I don't really count it against you, but it without doubt doesn't help any. So come up with some personal inadequacy and how you are working to resolve it. Recognizing that you're not perfect and working toward solution is a obedient answer. Try not to choose a weakness that would impact the position you are applying for. And try not to provide me more detail about your encumbrance than is needed, keep you fear and solution short and sweet so you can move one to more positive topics.

(I don't ask that question anymore because I get so many can BS answers. My new request for information is "What have you done explicitly creative?" <my field is not typically thought of as creative.> I simply love the deer in the headlights look I grasp from some candidates. I can in recent times hear them thinking, "NOOO you were supposed to ask what my poor standard is." A good answer to this ask shows me how quickly you deduce on your feet surrounded by the face of the unpredicted. Plus it is much more positive than dwelling on weakness.)

I want to know how to go and get a account buy and sell?

Question:
I want to know how to get a transcription deal

Answer:
I wonder if signing up for a music class at the local community college (or university) can allow you some connections somehow and also work on your craft at one and the same time.
Right now, you can be successful by getting adequate blogs with your music files posted on the net, and trying to generate traffic through them - that is more successful than the feeble process of trying to get a sign to sign you up.
If your good ample , try American Idle..To me thats the best way for unknowns to obtain record deal. Also will let you come to gips if you are as polite as you hope you are
